How many does your LO say now that you can understand? I think A followed the 18mo explosion they tell you about because she's at about 30 that I can understand clearly

I can't even tell. So many I lost count. She's definitely exploded in the vocabulary area. Before the "explosion" I could count 40-50. I would say at least 75, but I really have no idea. She's starting to form two work sentences too. "Mama no." "Papa no." "Right there." "What's that?"

He has horrible pronunciation. He probably has 20 words I know of and maybe another 10 that I'm still trying to figure out. He talks non stop but it sounds like another language!

75?!! That's awesome!
Now I feel like my little A is behind
She's just going at her own pace. She understands everyhing which is most important. I think you can't really worry until they are 3. There is so much that changes even between now and 2.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry if M wasn't saying that much. I don't know where she picks it all up. She's a sharp little girl that's for sure. We are definitely to the phase of watching our language around her. The other day my sister said something and ended it with "Sucka!" Next thing we hear is M go "Sucka!" In her cute little voice from the back seat lol
LO has a lot of words - I think I underestimated at 50 when we had his 18 mo checkup last week. However, he only ever says one at a time. No sentences yet at all. DH inadvertently taught him dammit the other day. He started screaming it at the grocery store today. Fun times.

I think KJ is like this too. She says a few things I don't understand but she's pretty good at enunciating. She can say her ABCs (not all clearly - LMNOP is tricky) and count to ten (very clearly). Strangers often ask if she's 2 because she's tall too.

Lost count here too. Hes coming out with new words every day. He also identifies and says every letter of the alphabet, most shapes and some numbers. (He can identify but doesnt always say them all)
ETA he doesnt pronounce everything perfectly by any means. Some words are spot on but some words are just very close.
This. I've completely lost track. And I'm starting to understand some of his shorter sentences too.
Today she learned meow. She picked up Brown Bear and said "cat, meow" I cracked up.
So D knows meow, but cat sounds like toc. The abc kids are blowing my mind! I don't think D knows much of that at all. He loves when I sing it to him and we do the damn flash cards 3 times a day but that's about it. Why is parenting so frustrating sometimes!!!!

Even though DS didn't talk until 2, I think we're heading to speech therapy in the next few months. She understands absolutely everything and is very expressive but the words just aren't there.
I think my kid told me "No" about 100 times today.
This is the only word LO has ever said in front of the pediatrician.
Me: A, can you say mommy? A: Nooooooo. Me: Can you say daddy? A: Noooooooo. Me: What does a cat say? A: Noooooooo. Me: Can you give Dr. M a high five? A: Noooooooo.
It kept going. These are all things he loves to do at home or with our friends.

One word that A hasn't learned is No and I'm perfectly ok with that. She can nod No but doesn't say it
cl8badb, that's great about J knowing all the letters. I need a good book that just has the alphabet. Right now A is so obsessed with the animal books we have

This is us. He is picking up a lot more daily though.
Wow. Reading this thread makes me feel bad. DS (3 1/2 years) is in speech therapy. He has a pragmatic speech delay. He talks like a 2-year-old. DD says more words than DS did at that age, but she's nowhere near what other people are saying. I was impressed that she could count to 3, but she has only done it a few times.

Im racking my brain right now to try to remember exactly how J learned his letters. Hes always had an interest in letters. I think that i just pointed them out to him on blocks and in books. Super Why also uses a lot of letters and he loves that show. Theres also an app called Alphabet Aquarium School that i downloaded on the ipad which he loves! (Icon is an alligator with the letters AB) I think using that app together taught him a lot. Theres definitely no rush for them to know their letters! He just likes them and was showing interest so i went with it.
No words, but I was thrilled she started babbling baba! Sometimes we think she says other things but I think it's just our wishful thinking. We're working on simple signs with her just in case. I think she'll be verbal, but just like everything else it's going to be in Gia Time. We've decided to work on physical stuff first and not worry about talking yet. I'd rather she be able to walk and manipulate things with her hands since it's more useful.
