Hi all. So I am turning the office/playroom into just an playroom. I moved most of the furniture out and sold the desk. So I have all this stuff cords/checkbooks/office supplies that I don't want in the playroom but don't really have anywhere to put it that is easily accessible. Please give me an idea. I'm not loving a lot of the Pinterest ideas because I don't need anything fancy just organized.
If it's just the stuff in that bin (and maybe a few other similar type things) I'd get clear stackable bins that are shoe box sized (container store men's shoe boxes are really good sizes for that type of stuff, though he regukar sized ones may be better if its smaller stuff). You can sort by category in each bin and stack them wherever you said that may not be easily accessible, but at least everything is sorted and easy to see so you can grab what you need as you need it. The Container Store is also having their office organization sale right now, so if you're near one, you could go see what other options they have, or check out their website (former employee here who has their sale schedule embedded in my brain at this point. I could design you a mean closet if you needed it )
Could you try to find an inexpensive secretary desk (Craigslist?) We bought one when we lost our home office when YDS was born and it's actually pretty great. Plenty of room to store things and you can still have the desk surface for paying bills and whatnot but it folds up easily to contain everything. Ours has been in several rooms (we have since moved an actually have an office again) and it works everywhere.
This is the one we have, but you may be able to find something similar at an antique store or garage sale.
