Some of you have known me for quite some time but those who don't let me provide some background. Been TTC since 2009. Gave up in early 2012 and moved on to DIA. Had a match early on that ended with us at the hospital and the BM changing her mind just as we were being released, car seat in hand. Devastated and had to fly home with no baby. Failure #2 we thought we were getting smarter and refused to fly down to meet the baby until papers were signed. This time it was a fraud as she never had intentions of signing, DCF got involved because the baby was born addicted and we were disappointed but not devastated. Baby #3 we fly to AR, papers were signed and we left the hospital to await court date. 36 hours later (BM had 5 days after signing) she has the police show up to our hotel room to retrieve the baby. This time we are broken. Believe this woman scammed from the beginning with no intention of ever placing but wanted the money based on how easily she signed and finding out past history after the fact. DH and I could not go through any of this again. We started looking into surrogacy but knew we couldn't afford a surrogate in the US, so we started looking abroad. The deal was my DH needed to have someone pregnant by the time he turns 50 or we would just not have a child. Six months later the step daughter of a close family friend whom DH has known since she was 10 offers to be our surrogate. An incredible gift as she lives in a compassionate only state where we legally cannot pay for anything. Yesterday was our 20 week scan and in 5 days DH turns 50! All looks great and I am so excited for our little girl to arrive. I will still need to adopt since based on state laws even though this baby isn't genetically related to our surrogate, legally it is her baby. DH will not have to adopt since it is his baby too. Thus my story for any of you who didn't know. Love keeping up with this board and seeing everyone's progress. Have a great weekend!
