LO pooped and while cleaning around his penis I noticed white stuff underneath and on his sack. Thinking it was desitin I continued to wipe away. But it kind of looks like skin peeling. Does anyone notice this on their baby boy? Or know if I should be taking extra care of this area in someway? TIA

I've noticed it too. He has it around his little chubby legs too. The only thing the pedi told me to be careful of is every now and then you need to roll back the excess skin at the top of his penis and clean around the head. DS is circumcised though so I'm not sure if that would apply to any LOs that are uncircumcised.

@hollyfromtn - it does not. For uncircumcised boys the foreskin is usually fused to the head of the penis until they're at least two, often older. Do clean well what you can see, but don't try to pull back the foreskin!

If your son isn't circumcised, do not try to roll back the foreskin. It's still attached to the head of the penis and you can damage it.
My son sometimes has some white stuff around his testicles. I assume it's skin flakes or whatever and gently clean it off.
Thanks all. One of my sisters has kids but no boys and she said babies are always peeling from one spot or another. True, lo scalp has started to flake a lot lately. But I was taken by surprise finding it in that particular spot. My other sister who does have a 3 yo boy actually had no experience with this.
And thanks for the foreskin/circ explanation. I was told by nurses in the hospital to pull back and clean there but my son isn't circumcised. I was confused since when I asked my sister she disagreed. And I, of course being a FTM, wanted to follow the nurses directions. Glad I never did! I guess not many people don't circumcise and that's why I was misinformed.

It's surprising how many medical professionals are clueless when it comes to retracting foreskin. My son is intact as well and the first pedi that was consulted in the hospital wanted to retract it. Also know that if he ever goes to the er there is no medical need to ever retract foreskin for a urine sample either!

DS' scalp was really bothering me with all the flakes, so I thought I would share what I did today that made it look and feel so much better. I put a little oil on it and let it sit for a few minutes, then I brushed his scalp with the baby hairbrush to remove the dead skin. Next I used baby shampoo and a wet washcloth to clean it all off, and finally I put a little baby lotion on his head to keep it moisturized. Found that on Dr. Sears' website and it made such a difference; how did people raise babies before the Internet? LoL

We used to do the same with DS. He still gets bad dry scalp and he's almost three - we use a leAve in conditioner a couple times a week. DD is starting to get pretty nasty too - right now I'm just using a washcloth in the bath and a soft bristle brush when dry to help flake it off.
I noticed this a while back with H and I asked DH what is was and he said it is normal just dead skin and to wipe it off. I was clueless since I had never cleaned a penis before in my life. Lol!
