GTKY Monday: Effing Daylight Savings Edition

Happy Monday, PAIF!  I hope you are all less miserable than I this morning, what with the completely useless time change that is a relic from WWI and for some reason everyone's still doing.  It's made especially fun with pg fatigue, yes??

So let's GTKY around some time-related q&a...

1. Are you a morning person or an evening person right now? 
2. Has this changed since you became KU? 
3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for?
4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well?

1. I am a night person. I bartended for years and that late night habit is hard to break

2. Yes, now I am no longer a morning or night person. Unfortunately, I have had some pregnancy insomnia in the middle of the night.

3. I would add one more to the evening. I am so exhausted when I get home and am happy it will at least be light out when I get home. Time for lots of neighborhood walks with my pups!

4. I wasn't very reliant on caffeine before I got KU. If I need a pick me up, I will treat myself to a treat from DD - sometimes I just want that taste of coffee.

Evening person. I do love mornings, but I always stay up too late. 10-midnight is the perfect time to start cleaning and prepping for the next day, apparently.

2. Has this changed since you became KU?
No. I get really tired around 7, but I tend to pull through without a nap. I really hate naps, especially in the evening. I wake up way to grumpy and confused.

3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for?
Right now, evening to evening more daylight! I'm so excited, I love long days. I'm hoping to get cleared to start running again, I love running after work in the heat. I run on a mostly shaded trail that has some nice cool spots close to the river.

4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well?
I think just getting moving is usually enough to wake me up, particularly making breakfast (bacon, toast, and oj right now). I've been on decaf since before we started IVF, but occasionally I'll have a half caf, half decaf mid-morning or so (when I can judge if I'm going to have a day full of m/s or not).

2. It's probably become more obvious now being pregnant. By the end of the day, I can't function
3. I guess I'd add an hour to morning since I get so much more done?
4. I have one cup of coffee per day. On days when I feel pretty awake and just want something warm, I get decaf.

hbanana18 I'm doing the pg insomnia thing right now too. No matter what time I go to sleep or wake up, a few hours in the night I'm just lying there twiddling my thumbs.

@buttmonkey I'm the same way - wake up early even when you don't need to be up. 'Member your early twenties when getting up early on a weekend meant, like, 11:00??

bostongirl617 I'd been doing 1 cup of caffeinated coffee/day for the past year, and kept with it through IVF, so I was *shocked* last week when I had my first cup of caffeinated in about 10 days or so, and it was like someone had somehow made me smoke crack without noticing. It was awful.

sewfie2 The early dark for running really bites. It's definitely one thing I'm glad about daylight savings for (assuming I can run sometime soon). That trail sounds nice!

gsancho Decaf has been my savior these past few weeks. It usually still has at least a little caffeine (I believe avg. around 10-15mg or something).

1. Are you a morning person or an evening person right now? Right now definitely not-quite-either. If we're talking not too late in the evening, say around 6:30-7:30, then evening.
2. Has this changed since you became KU? Yes! I am used to being all, "It's 6:30! Time to get up! Yay!"
3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for? I definitely need an extra hour in the morning now, since it's so hard to get moving.
4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well? I mean, I asked this question, so obviously I am fishing for things that do work well and don't have one to offer of my own, LOL.

2. Has this changed since you became KU? I've always been more of a morning person. I'm so used to being up between 5-6 my whole life. Even on Sundays, DH would be sleeping away and I would get up and get stuff done! Now I want nothing more than to fall back asleep!!

3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for? Right now, I'd like an extra hour in the evening. I'm tired at night, but the weather is getting better and DH can drag me out! When I go back to work in a couple weeks, I'd like that hour in the morning. Mornings are hard right now.

4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well? I'm not much of a caffeine drinker anyways. But forcing myself up and eating breakfast seems to help. Until a couple hours later, then I want sleep again!!

2. Has this changed since you became KU? Nope, never liked mornings...hate them even more now!
3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for? Night, that's when some of the m/s subsides and I can eat or rest.
4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well? My shower sometimes wakes me up, if that doesn't happen, m/s always wakes me up.

I have to say, the hour messes me up, but I loove that it's not dark when I leave work. I love the longer days.

bluefairy5, it's definitely my favorite close-by trail (it's maybe 2 miles from my door). In the evening, towards the end of a run, I start to see some wildlife. I've seen a group of 3 deers one night and a lone buck on another run. I guess I run pretty quietly cause I scared the bejesus out of that buck. One time I heard this weird growl and when I got around the corner I found out who it was. A painted box turtle. I had no idea they can growl! Trail is actually a single-track mountain bike trail, but it's never very busy, so I guess that's why I get to see critters. I usually listen to audiobooks, so I keep the volume low enough to hear bikes coming up behind me for safety. And to hear turtles giving warning growls haha.

Appt update!
Stormageddon (our new nickname for the fetus; I'm the DW fan in the house) is measuring 2 days ahead (10w,4d) and was moving so much! We saw little kicking legs and waving hands. It's weird to think that I can't feel any of it. I mean, it's small and all, but it seems like I should be able to feel a little something. I guess I will soon. The RE said that based on where the placenta is located I may begin to feel it sooner than average. Guess we'll wait and see.
I got cleared to start some fast walking for now and slloooowwwlly and some light/easy running. And to take a half dose of PIO for the next couple of days- Wednesday will be the last.

1. Are you a morning person or an evening person right now? I've always been kind of both - up early and to bed fairly late. I've never been one for sleeping much at night. That said, I'm generally dragging a bit in the late morning and mid-afternoon. Perhaps I was meant to be nocturnal.
2. Has this changed since you became KU?It has mainly exaggerated everything. I'm now extra exhausted during the day, and definitely cannot sleep through the night.
3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for?Not sure. In the morning I tend to get more done, I think, so maybe an extra hour of productivity would be good.
4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well?Citrus fruit, peppermint or lemon tea, and getting some exercise seem to help. My commute includes lots of walking, and my office is on the top floor of our building, so that's what would generally wake me up anyway.

I think you should order this. And probably also a "Not Mum" t-shirt for YH, and a "Big Milk Thing" shirt for you (even if that was Melody, not Stormageddon.)

This morning in our house was brutal. Screw you, time change!!

1. Are you a morning person or an evening person right now? - a night person, but I wish I was a morning person

2. Has this changed since you became KU? - Yes. Now I'm a never person. I just want to sleep all the time.

3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for? -I work from home, mostly, so this is hard to say, since I don't work a tradition schedule anyway. But an extra hour in the morning to sit around with DS and sip my tea would be lovely.

4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well? - Uh, I totally still drink my caffeine. And the universe thanks me for it!

1. Are you a morning person or an evening person right now? I'm a sleep person. But if I have to choose, I've become more of a morning person. Except on weekdays---I never want to get up for work. I find myself getting up earlier on the weekends and my days off than I used to before getting KU.

2. Has this changed since you became KU? No, not really. I've always liked sleep. I remember my parents having to wake me up when I was little cause I slept 12-13 hours every night. I've always liked to wake up around 9am and go to sleep around 10:30/11 even on weekends.

3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for? evenings... for productivity!

4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well? I gave up my morning coffee so that I could keep my lunch diet coke. Honestly, I didn't start drinking coffee until I was 26 (Even through college and grad school...) so its not like I've been doing it for a million years and I suddenly gave up. If I need something hot on a cold morning I'll just do hot chocolate.

3. If you could add one hour onto your morning or your evening, which would you choose and what would you use it for? Evening - there's nothing it have a desire to do in the morning other than get to work ASAP
4. If you're not drinking caffeine (or as much caffeine) right now, how are you waking up in the mornings? Anything that seems to work well? I started drinking coffee in my 2nd tri. It's headache medicine for me. Water helps too.
