I can't believe it! It feels like just yesterday and yet it feels like he's been with us forever.
It's a weekday, so things have been really understated, but I switched or all the beding in his room to new "big boy" Start Wars bedding while he was in school and surprised him by reading to his class. Tonight we're going out for Peruvian food, having chocolate cake, and giving him a few gifts. It's going to be a good day!
As a side note, I read two books to his class, one of which was A Mother for Choco. I think it made the teachers uncomfortable and when I was done, they quickly asked the kids what their favorite part of the other book was. Adoption lesson fail; I think all it did was put more questions into the kids' minds. Whoop, whoop!
Congrats to you on celebrating three years with your son! Don't stress over the adoption lesson today. Revamp and try again when you're given another chance. We recently gave some really good friends a children's book that addresses adoption. I was surprised that the mom was uncomfortable. If someone got something out of your lesson, it was worth your time.
I'm surprised there was an issue with your book choice! I feel like AMFC is really benign. I wonder how DS' teacher felt when he brought the adoption book I made him with his actual life story for his March book talk then lol.

Congratulations on the anniversary! A little sad to hear about the pass over your book choice, but awesome that you got to go to his class and read. Love that, love kids who love books.
The book is awesome and maybe the teacher just didn't know how to explain it so she passed over it, mehh!! But congrats for 3 wonderful years with your precious son
