I am 9 weeks 2 days. At 5 weeks 5 days we had an ultrasound and saw one sac that was empty still. Then at 6 weeks 1 day there were two sacs with one heartbeat the other one (that had just showed up) was empty. The lady didn't say much, she didn't know really what it was. So I have been waiting since then for my next appointment to see what's going on. 4 weeks to wait wondering if there is one or two is freaking me out!
I got pregnant the month after a loss and my betas were pretty high right off. Then when the doctor checked me she said based just on feeling me that I was 6-7 weeks. When I was only 4. So I have a feeling it's two. And one maybe just implanted later so it didn't show anything yet.
Is there anyone that had two sacs with only one heartbeat then go back to have two?
I know what ever happens I will be so grateful for the one that's healthy but can't help but wonder.
One of my boys always measured a bit behind, but that early on it was never more than a day or two. I had several early u/s, due to my loss history and other issues.
At 4w6d, we saw one sac and some fluid on the other side of my uterus. At 5w2d, we saw two sacs, one with a yolk sac, the other looked empty. By 6w5d, there were two yolks, two fetal poles, and two heartbeats.
Anything is possible, but betas don't really mean anything. And in a twin pregnancy, the uterus doesn't typically start to measure significantly larger until sometime in the 2nd trimester. If they see a second sac, you obviously conceived twins, but until you have another u/s, there's no way to know if it's developing or not.
Unfortunately, it's just a waiting game. I probably would have pushed for an earlier u/s. Either way, congrats on your pregnancy! Keep us updated!
I was so stressed going in just praying for a heart beat, that once we heard it I was just over the moon. I remember looking at the second sac and asking about it but then went back to the heart beat and was just so happy I was crying.. Didn't even have the twin part sink in till we got home and I was like wait a min... What.. Or I would of made more of a push for an earlier scan. But I am hoping that it will give the second one a chance to catch up. I go back next week. DH thinks I am crazy thinking there are two when the other was empty. But he doesn't understand if it's early, it looks empty. Trying not to get my hopes up but still be a little prepared if there are two next time.
We have a 4 and 2 year old DS's. So we would need to be getting a new car for sure
Hold on, you posted on Oct 15 that the u/s tech said it was a pocket of fluid. A pocket of fluid and a sac can look similar, but they aren't the same. I had a pocket of fluid (turned out to be blood from a SCH) that almost looked like a third sac. It was a black circle similar to the sacs, but it didn't have a thin white outline like the sacs did.
U/s techs usually know what they're looking for and what they're looking at. If the tech said it was a pocket of fluid, then I'm more inclined to think you're probably having one baby.
The ultrasound tec that did it said that it "could be a pocket of fluid, or a sac or something else." I have had a lot of ultrasounds there in the past with my loss and the doctors have went out of there way to say she isn't the best tech they have. So maybe she just couldn't tell. I don't know but I will have another ultrasound next week hopefully with a different tech.
I also have a cyst that they have been watching and she couldn't find it at first so she did both the kinds of ultrasounds then she found it. Then she said "wow the baby looks so different for this view". I don't know if she is newer and that's why but she didn't sound like she knew or had been doing it for long.
