Makeup Question (Semi-Pregnancy Related)

I have been thinking about wearing more makeup, and I noticed that my eyeshadows are pretty old. So here are some questions I wanted to ask:

• How long do you keep your makeup (particularly eyeshadows and powder blushes)?
• Do you ever clean your brushes?
• Do you plan on wearing any makeup during pregnancy?

i only wear eye makeup and I've been horrible about throwing it out regularly. I actually ended up getting some irritation on one eyelid right in the crease so I've stopped shadows entirely for at least the last 6 months. Now that I think about it - this partly probably has to do with not throwing out the shadows soon enough. oops

i plan to continue to wear my eyeliner/mascara until the day i die with no exceptions.

I haven't really regularly worn makeup in over a year. I was never really anal with my make-up when I did. I've had my bare minerals combination for a year, eye shadow for over 2 years. Never did blush and still have most of my lipsticks. I have had to replace mascara and eyeliner because they dry out. I have never considered washing my powder brushes, but I probably should.

I wear bare minerals face powders. No brand eye shadow, maybeline volume & lengthener mascara because my eyelashes are short and thin. This is what I wore when DD was conceived and was approved by my midwife and so I wore it all through my pregnancy.

I wear makeup every day. Usually just tinted moisturizer, powder, eyeliner and mascara daily. Then I step it up on weekends

I wash my brushes every couple months and usually lose mascara around the time it's going bad (I put it in my purse or pack for trips and lose it). I keep eye shadows too long...but I love fun colors and rarely use them so I can't throw them out! I have been getting lots of fun sample size things to help with that. (Birchbox is awesome!)

I'll definitely wear makeup during pregnancy, I've been wearing some type of makeup for more than 20 years, can't stop now!

If you have any makeup questions, ask away (I'm not as obsessed as I used to be but I still love it).

(Also if you want a good eyeshadow set, smashbox naked set is awesome...and full exposure for night looks, they're universally flattering and fun to play with!)

I don't wear much makeup on the day to day basis - but I'm usually in the barn, bundled up in the winter and sweating in the summer, so there's really no point. But when I do, I usually wear Neutrogena BB cream, blush, mascara, and lip stick. Sometimes if I'm going out at night I'll wear eye shadow and eye liner. I try to buy all new once a year (I use my husband's company holiday party as an excuse to get new makeup), and I wash my brushes then too. Since I don't wear much anyway, I was planning to continue my same routine when I'm pregnant.

What am I missing about makeup and pregnancy? I didn't think twice about wearing it when I was pregnant with DD. Just continued my normal application of powder, eye shadow, blush, mascara, and lip gloss.

I'm bad and replace everything when it runs out. I don't even know how long each thing even lasts. I don't clean my brushes.

I keep makeup forever and ever. Usually it cracks at some point and even then I gather up the teeny pieces and get what I can out of them. On a daily basis I use Sarah McNamara Skin Transformer, blush and mascara from Shu Uemura, and eye shadow from Nars. I have a million lip glosses that I never use regularly. I don't ever clean my brushes even though I know you're supposed to. I wore makeup when I was pregnant although my skin was so fabulous I barely needed it. Right now I look like a teenager thanks to all my fun hormonal breakouts!

I used to be a make up junky. So much money spent at Sephora. How the mighty have fallen. Ha!

I stay home now so I don't daily wear make up since we have been stuck in the house this winter. Quick story- about ten years ago (I was running late and skipped application) when I was teaching first grade a little girl told me, " Miss S you look a lot better when you wear makeup". Those little ones don't lie. She was right. I digress-
I rarely clean my brushes and only throw out mascara regularly. I toss lip gloss if I know it's really old or the minute it smells funky. Powder stuff I keep. Concealer/foundation I go through regularly. I am very careful to throw out expired sunscreen.
I definitely will wear make up when pregnant.

momtex--some make up contains chemicals that may not be fetus-friendly. Red lipsticks are particularly toxic. There are pregnancy-friendly brands out there.

I wear makeup everyday...even when going to the gym or if I'm not leaving the house. I just always have and probably always will. I've never read or heard anything that would affect pregnancy to give me reason not to.
I go through my bare minerals on a regular basis but probably keep my eye stuff a little longer than I should.
I do wash my brushes weekly and just stopped using anything harsh with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in case I do get KU.

As a chef there is virtually no point in me wearing makeup to work. I did have the thought recently that perhaps I was looking a little haggard and should consider wearing more often, but I haven't actually done anything about it. I don't know how long I keep my make up, but it's years more than months. I don't clean my brushes, but I also don't use them often. As for during pregnancy, I would not be opposed to wearing it then.

This is interesting - I've never heard anything about some make-up that wasn't fetus friendly. Guess you learn something new every day! I wear make-up pretty much everyday unless I have no plans of leaving the house and will likely do so when I get KU. Bare minimum, mascara. I have short, thin, blonde eyelashes. I look like a freak without mascara..lol. I currently use Younique products for everything. I don't wash my brushes. I usually just buy new ones every 6 months to a year.

My routine sounds a lot like luvmyponies - minus the barn (which I WISH we had!!). Also the BB cream...I use a concealer foundation stick combo before applying pressed powder. After I got off the BC patch 4 yrs ago, my skin has been horrible!!! luvmyponies, Is the BB cream or something to even out the tone worth it? I'm looking for something not as heavy as liquid foundation.

I wear makeup everyday but it's not a whole lot. Powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara.

I am horrible at washing my brushes and throwing my mascara away. I've had the same one forever

I use mostly pigments for my eyeshadow but I do have regular eyeshadow that I've also had forever...and ever.

agpjt413 the BB cream is AMAZING!! I've tried L'Oreal, but I like the consistency and color of Neutrogena much better. It smooths out my skin tone like no other foundation I've tried.

The barn in New England isn't so fun this winter... right about now I'd take a barn in a warmer, drier climate!

I wear make up for job interviews, weddings, when I have to speak in front of a crowd, and formal banquets so it doesn't get used enough to throw away. I do go on kicks where I'll wear it everyday for a while.

Anyway... shadows I keep forever and a day. Same with blush and face powder. Mascara I replace usually every time I have one of the occasions above because it's dried out. Eyeliner seems to last a while... I use a liquid so same as mascara. I usually go for chapstick (my lips are naturally pretty red) but have a few lipsticks and I haven't replaced them in a while.

I probably won't wear much if I ever get a BFP. I'd never heard of it being bad but these days anything you breathe, touch, eat, drink, or look at seems to bad for you so it doesn't surprise me. I definitely wore it with DD but that was a loooong time ago. I was dancing and had stage makeup on at 7 months! I was young... looking back and knowing what I know now I'm in awe everything worked out.

agpjt413 I'm so jealous! Mid 70s sounds SO FANTASTIC!! My skin is fair, so I bought one of the lightest shade and it matches great, I never feel like I'm even wearing foundation. The L'Oreal is supposed to "match" your tone as you rub it in (it comes out of the tube white), but even though I bought the lightest shade, it still felt too dark for me.

vh2014 - I'm with you on probably not wearing make up after my BFP (I didn't wear that much last time either). One of my girlfriends never let anyone see her w/o make up but once she got PG and had the baby....make up no more!! And I think she looks a lot more youthful without!

I wear make up every day to work. You can't tell that I use a lot of different things but I use concealer, foundation (with a make up brush which I do clean every use or two), powder blush. Then eye shadow, brow liner to fill in a few thin spots, eye liner, and mascara. I either use up or throw out every few months. Lip gloss but it is gone fast.

I have horses as well and with that and lifeguarding in my younger years I have brown spots on my face ( I am very fair skinned) so want to conceal them.

I just can't imagine not wearing make up. Between that and moisturizer it is my "have to's every day!
