Initially I wanted to EP for a year, I don't see that happening. I have a great supply I am just tired to being tied to the pump, missing out on stuff, having to pump and not being able to take care of LO especially first thing in the morning.
My goal now is to prove BM for at least 4 months, some of which may be frozen.
It's going rough, I'm tired of pumping, my boobs always hurt, I still have oversupply so I'm still leaking a lot.
Current challenges, it seems like nothing is working. The zipper busted on my pumping bra, the new one I purchased isn't working out....sigh.
How many pumps per day? It totally differs I have a really hard time pumping at work so I can get anywhere from 4-7 a day.
How long do you plan on EPing? I wanted to EP until little one is 6 months but I'll be lucky enough to make it to three
How is EPing going? Terrible. I'm trying really hard to pump more and longer to build up my supply but nothing is helping.
Challenges? Everything. I don't like missing out on things, It takes me at least 30 minutes to get anything more than an ounce. Even then I only get about 1 1/2 it's rough. It's hard to pump at work even though they let me I have to pump in the bathroom because it's just easiest but it's so gross back there.
I'm almost 6 weeks pp I'm currently at 6 ppd. I just pump after every time LO eats. I originally set a 6 month goal but I'm debating that now. I have an oversupply so it all depends on freezer room! I can't really complain except it sucks having to time out when I can go do things or how long I can stay out before having to pump again. Just the fact I'm missing snuggle time with levi and my dog feels neglected while LO sleeps cause I always have to pump.

I'll be 10 weeks post partum on Saturday. I usually only do 4-5 pumps per day. We supplement with formula. I set little goals for pumping and as long as I'm able to produce the majority of his food, I'll pump. Right now, he's usually getting 2/3 breast milk, 1/3 formula throughout the day. Pumping isn't too awful but I've never pumped in the motn or as frequently as I should. My mentality is that some breastmilk is great and I do my best, without stressing myself, to provide that.
I guess this thread is the best place to post this question. How do you know when pumping is more worth the hassle than what the baby is getting. I'm really discouraged about pumping and don't really know what to do. As I said above I'm only getting a little bit of milk now and it's so hard to pump at work . If I could increase my supply I would feel so much better. I'm don't want to give up but at the same time I do.

Are you doing a Motn pump? For me those are the ones I get the most from. And I read that it shouldn't matter how many pumps a day you do as long as your averaging 120 minutes a day. Have you used any supplements to increase your supply?

LO actually sleeps through the night now I used to average around 4 ounces in the mornings but not anymore. I've never heard the 120 minute rule I may have to try that! I tried fenugreek and I actually saw a decrease instead of an increase. I'm not sure why at all

Seeing a decrease with the fenugreek isn't uncommon. On the EPing group I'm in on FB a lot of the moms say they had a decrease as well. It just doesn't work for some people. Are you still tKing a daily vitamin and drinking enough water? Those for me have been key. I know there's breastfeeding supplements from similac and there's coupons for them in parenting magazines and stuff but there only sold at bru. I hope any of that is helpful!
stephanielouise I'm glad I'm not the only one who that's happened to I thought I was crazy. I am trying to up my water intake lately to increase supply. So hopefully that will help some thank you for the advice!

I think everyone is different in terms of when they will stop pumping. Having supply issues definitely makes it more frustrating. I've found that being really hydrated and drinking a gatorade a day helped my supply. I set short term goals like 2 weeks/4 weeks/etc.
I'm not Eping but I thought this might be a good group of people to ask about supplementing. Are you guys using formula designed for supplementing or just the regular version. And when I give a bottle of breast milk he takes 4.5 oz, should I just start with 2 oz of formula and increase until I find the right amount? Thanks in advance!

We just use Enfamil newborn. Not the one designed for supplementing. We make the 2 oz of formula as needed. generally the dictator gets 3-5 oz of breast milk and 1-2 oz of formula (never eating more than 6 total oz, he's 10 weeks). Each baby is different and each feeding is different.

My short term goal right now is until his 2 months which is only next week. My goal after that will probably be 10 weeks and I'll try to do it in two week intervals so I don't get discouraged. Keeping my fingers crossed things get better this formula is really upsetting baby.
