So, I've been up since I dropped dh off at work around 6am and I did my usual early morning pinning. I found this on Pintrest and I may be late to the party but I just HAD to show you guys.
So cute! Maybe something I should use. I just pin the pattern to the fabric, but its a pain in the ass to pin and then unpin once you cut it. I would have never thought about using weights!
They are cute- I just use some of the ceramic glaze tests (pendants and magnet-less magnets) these days, they're heavy enough and pretty.
We got our 3-D Micro printer FINALLY- a Kickstarter project from early last year (that was supposed to be delivered in November, but, let's not split hairs or anything- LOL). It's so adorable and we love it so far. I've made a cookie cutter for dog biscuits and a little Minecraft creeper toy. It's printing another cookie cutter right now, we get more filaments (in pretty colors) tomorrow, so we'll likely have it going all weekend, more or less. This is such awesome technology, still really in it's toddlerhood- it's going to be fun where it goes in the next decade.

I bought a box of large heavy washer from home depot to do this. I have them for almost a year and just yesterday picked up ribbon to finish them up.
Edit: in case anyone is intrested this is what I bought. They are decently heavy when you stack them. There is 25 in the box and I think it was like 10 or 12 dollars for the box. DH helped me pick them out so I can't tell you where in the store we found them. Sorry.
Ok I have a random. I hold my yarn super tight on my left hand when I crochet and I have some sweet yarn burn going on right now. Has anyone tried the tension rings? It only happens with certain yarns but right now I'm stopping every 2 rows or so.

I actually started on my fabric weights. I didnt have enough ribbon for all the washers so I'll have to get more. If your gonna try it I recommend thick ribbon if you want a pattern the thin stuff distorsr a little when you pull it tight.
I think I will jump on board and add a random! I have just started really exploring the boards, I am usually on GKU. I am working on an Easter cross stitch and hope I can finish for Easter! When I am done with that I plan on making a comfy crochet blanket for DH.
Those weights are pretty neat. I haven't used many patterns but I think soon I want to start making DD some skirts and things so I will keep those in mind!

I love the weights idea. That's totally better than taping quilting to the floor like I do.
My random is I can't figure out stupid baby hats (crochet). Either they turn out too big (I think my yarn was too think) or I don't know. They just look too short (but the pattern in using is for beanies so maybe they're supposed to be short). I think I might make an adult hat for practice so I can at least try it on for size. The problem with baby hats is it looks wrong to me but maybe it's right, I don't exactly have a model to try it on....except my cat. Any tips?

I have not made a baby hat yet but it took a few tries to find a pattern that worked for adult hats. I you tubed and watched a lot of videos till I found the right one. That would be the only suggestion I have. I have also used this pattern for preschool aged age and I liked the way it turned out. It has the pattern for all sorts of sizes. This pattern of for a hat with ear flaps but you don't have to add those if you don't want.

ETA: Could you get your hands on a baby doll of some sort for trying on purposes?
I mean I may or may not have put my hat on a cabbage patch doll. It fits ok but it doesn't go down to the ears. I guess I'm just not sure if it's supposed to since it's just a beanie. Also cabbage patch have pretty big noggins. The "newborn" size hat I made it does not fit but the one with too thick yarn does so it's probably more like 3 months? 6 months? Lol I think I just need to start with an adult hat to get a better feel for sizing and gauges of my stitches.

So, I went out to Joanns today and bought an Olfa rotary cutter, woo! Hopefully now my cloth diapers will be beautiful and not jagged. I also picked up some sock yarn while I was there for DHs socks he asked me to knit. I was excited until I came home and saw that the pattern called for dpns...I didn't buy dpns. Ugh. Back to square one.
Oh wow that's a huge help. Looks like my hat IS the right size. Wow it seems so small. Yay!!! Thank you so much. Saving these charts for future reference.

Yay! I seriously love cutting everything with a rotary. It saves so much time.

Better the diaper than a finger or toe or something (I'd feel so bad, even though I warned you- I warned you, right? They're SHARP!!!)- but, yay for speed!
