Another thing I did was joined Pampers Points site. They often send me emails with coupons that I can use in store or online. Plus you can use the points you save up for a toy or two for the kiddo. I've gotten a few toys this way. I need the diapers anyway may as well get free stuff from them
My DH and I did some research on this on Saturday to make our budget for when Baby Pic arrives.
I debated Honest brand because you can bundle with wipes but I think using Pampers through Amazon Prime may be most cost effective. He's been told by friends that Pampers is the way to go. Has anyone used Honest out of curiosity? Those things are just so darn cute.
I actively use honest. It's $85 a month. Exact number of diapers you need. I love them. I feel like they aren't plastics and I like their policies on the environment. My DD is a super pooper- they don't come up high like Huggies?? In the back- she would blow out every day. I don't care but it drove my daycare lady batty. Having diapers that I knew wouldn't sit in landfills forever is enough for me. I was going to do cloth but I really liked the honest diapers and it was less laundry ? guess I got lazy! I'll be using them again.

I think that honest or 7th generation will be the only way for me to assuage the guilt I feel about not using CDs on this LO. I just know that I can't deal with that extra load of laundry every other day because I'm overwhelmed with it now.

Target and Walmart were our go to brands for DD. I can't stand the smell of pampers, huggies and luvs to begin with. DD ended up blistering in the diaper area with same diapers. So we tried Walmart and Target brands and never had an issue with blistering again. As to Honest and 7th Generation diapers aren't as absorbent but haven't had regular blowouts with Honest. I expect an occasional blow out in any brand diaper.
I felt like Pampers had a smell to them with both of my girls. One drop of pee and they absolutely reeked.
With DD1, we used mostly Luvs and BJ's (a warehouse club) brand diapers. I bought them in bulk in BJ's and was pleased with the quality and the price. For DD2, I got hardcore into couponing. It generally worked out- with deals and coupons- to be cheaper to buy a smaller pack of name brand diapers. We used mostly Huggies with her, but sometimes Pampers. If I couldn't find a deal, we bought the Luv's or BJ's brand in bulk.
No idea what we'll do with this one. There's no BJ's in our new town and the Costco diapers seem to have mixed reviews. We actually went to price out cloth diapers today. This is definitely our last DC. While I know there are other benefits to cloth diapers, I'm not sure I will save any money. I'm planning to run some numbers and decide how we want to register. I loathe laundry too.

Costco! The Huggies overnights are the best. We use them in the daytime too. Also, Costco offers $6 off coupons every other month or so. It usually works out to where we run out of diapers when the coupon is being offered.
HONEST COMPANY DIAPERS HERE!! We have used them from 3 months old until now (1 year old) exclusively. They are not only natural (chemical free, etc) but the prints are adorable! They ship to our home every 4-6 weeks (you can control how frequently they come) and $85/shipment. It includes plenty of diapers to last us until the next shipment but we do run out of wipes with the 4-5 packs that they include in the bundle- we typically will buy another pack or two. I LOVE the wipes more than the diapers if I was on budget and had to only pick one thing to spend the extra $ on...I like the wipes because they are fragrance free and super good for sensitive skin. If you are on the fence with it, I would urge you to try it out-- they sell a "starter pack" that includes wipes and diapers and some of their other baby products for like $50 or so, have seen it at Nordstrom. As a side note, we actually did not love the diapers at first (felt they were kind of stiff) but after using them for a week or two quickly got hooked and don't find them to be super stiff anymore.
Bonus: The Honest Company sent us a cute cookie cutter and cookie mix for Xmas in our monthly shipment. *It's the little things*
We did Pampers (sensitive when she was a nb since we both have sensitive skin) until size 4, then transitioned to Huggies Little Movers Pull-ons once she wouldn't lie down for a diaper change. We've mostly gotten diapers from Amazon Prime/Mom for the 20% discount, but occasionally pick up a package from the store. We tried Luvs and Up and Up, but were disappointed in both (smell and leakage). I also liked the Amazon option when we have traveled/flown somewhere because I just ship a package to our destination and it is one less thing to pack.

I am so lost when it comes to diapers. I want to start stocking up too but I'm scared to buy a brand that doesn't work for me. DH and I are leaning towards trying the Costco brand (I've heard they are similar to Huggies)

TTC #1 August 2014
1st Pregnancy September 2014 - Chemical Pregnancy
2nd Pregnancy October 2014 - July 8, 2015 Due Date!Stick bean, stick!
The timing of this is too funny. I'm a huge planner and number lover so I am actually in the process of making a spreadsheet that has the different stores, brands, price per diaper, sales, coupon column, etc. with formulas to give me the best pricing. From research you can get diapers priced as low as (per diaper): Newborn .13 - .16 1 .11 - .14 2 .14 - .16 3 .16 - .19 4 .19 - .22 5 .22 - .26 6 .26 - .30
Regular pricing is much higher. So I'll be looking at the sales/coupons and putting them into my handy dandy spreadsheet to pop out who has the best .
I'm a nerd. If there is a way to share it when I'm done I will
ETA: pricing is per diaper... (I'm sure this is obvious).

Another positive to doing amazon prime is that you get amazon prime streaming movies/tv! We did amazon prime and pampers and plan to do so with baby #2!
DD wore pampers starting with sensitive and switching to cruisers. DS needed sensitive the whole time due to sensitive skin and eczema. I never tried any of the store brands. I tried babyganics and hated them. I tried 7th generation and wasn't impressed. Honest was significantly more money so I just stuck with pampers.

YES to all of this. I LOVE The Honest Company! I've been using their diapers and wipes for 2+ years now and I have not one single complaint about them.
Also one time they didn't have one of the patterns in stock that I wanted which was NBD. Well in that shipment they sent a letter saying they were sorry and included 2 free extra packs of wipes!
That spreadsheet is awesome. I just number crunched the few diaper options showing on the Costco website. Most of the Huggies- especially with a coupon- fall into the "buy" range. In case anyone else is interested...
I'm a deal shopper, and I've used Amazon for the past 2.5 years for diapers, wipes, pullups. I also love that they come to me, so even if I could have couponed a better deal, I factor in the value of monthly delivery convenience!

I learned so much from this thread last night! If you add Amazon Prime, plus Amazon Mom, plus Amazon Subscribe and Save, you can get free shipping plus 20% off your diapers. So cool.
I'm leaning toward the biodegradable diapers, and buying from Amazon so we can get the extra discount.
Here's more about Amazon Mom. I wish it were called Amazon Parent, but I suppose I can live with it.
