DH and I had been in contact with an expectant mother who decided about a month ago to go with another family (friends of her aunt). Well she texted a few days ago saying she hasn't met them yet (she said she will this week) and doesn't know which family she will choose. I don't want to get my hopes up (ah, it's so hard not to) so don't want to prepare for a baby. However, the baby is due soon, April 3rd, so I want to be ready with a list of things to buy just in case this works out.
Did any of you create an emergency "baby must haves" shopping list that you care to share? Any suggestions?
- A few baby towels with hoods (I suggest paying more for good quality as they can last for multiple children and for years) - a few crib sheets (can be used in PnP) - baby soap (we love aveeno) - something to swaddle with - note not all babies like it but many do
All of these can be gender neutral and for any baby. Babies really don't need a ton and one of you can run to a store last minute too. Fingers crossed this works out for you!
FWIW we decided to have a crib, stroller, car seat, and PnP before DD came along. We were starting to stock up on GN clothes. I wished we'd had a specific nb outfit to taker her home in.
The night we brought DD home, DH went to WalMart and bought a ton of stuff. We were pretty much set by the next day.
I don't really have any other suggestions but Omg i know you don't want to get your hopes up but for some reason I read this and got my hopes up for you . I really really hope they choose you!!! Keep us posted!

We have a PNP with a newborn sleeper on it, an infant car seat, and the bob stroller. The stroller was just a holy sale price purchase. I do want a baby wearing item and maybe a gender neutral outfit or two.

We had a 4 day period between match and our daughter's birth, it was a little hectic (although less than you would think) but we got everything we needed.
We had a pnp at home that we bought for when my niece visits. We also had a car seat on hand (still in the box and we had planned on exchanging it every 3 mo to make sure it was current). We also had bought an Ergo since we decided to skip the infant car seat and go straight to a convertible. Really the only other things you NEED are formula, diapers and a few outfits which were easy to pick up last minute.

Do NOT buy more than the essentials. Crib/PNP, car seat, a few onesies and sleepers, some bottles and a pack of diapers or so. They give you all kinds of stuff at the hospital, and especially if people in your life know you've been waiting, they will buy ALL THE THINGS.
I'm really sorry this situation didn't work out for you, but prayers that it does happen soon!
