Poor little guy! That must have been really scary. When I was doing research about his head I read about that and can't even imagine.
It was. Nothing like being introduced to parenthood the hard way! We found out he had it the day of his 1 month pedi checkup. Waiting eight weeks for the surgery was the hardest part. BUT we had a great neurosurgeon at a top children's hospital and lots of support from family/friends. Couldn't have gotten through it without them! Now he's a normal/healthy almost 6 year old who has no idea how tough he was. We were so surprised by how quickly he bounced back after the surgery -- it was crazy, considering what they did inside his head. He'll just never be able to shave his head without showing off his scar...it's like a zigzag headband. And DH secretly likes having a reason to prevent DS from playing football (chance of concussion/head injury makes it a no-go).
@sharmon13 is does look like that doesn't it?! I look at DD hair all the time and see weird red tints. I think we've got a lot of little red/reddish hair J14 babies :-)
We definitely seem to have more red hair in one group than science says we should! Ha!

I'm rambling. Sorry!
Your DS went through a lot! I bet the anticipation of the surgery was just awful. 8 weeks is a long time when you're waiting for something like that. Did he have to do helmet therapy too or did they catch it early enough that the surgery was enough?
Nope, no helmet. They mentioned that some kids need it after the surgery but he didn't.

@sharmon13, I think its looking a little red! I love my little redhead!
rlb, was your daughter born 7/17? I think she resembles my LO in many ways and if they had the same birthday and us having the same names. "Wee-ooh, wee-ooh" (That's my twilight zone sound)

A sleeping baby with a full bottle gives me milk waste anxiety. Lol. Even if they are adorable!!
ME too!! I thought it would just happen with BM, but I get anxious about the formula too. That stuff is expensive!!!
Trust me, I do too - for both! I am a little lax with their time frames though, I figure they err on the side of caution. I'm obviously not going to give her formula/milk that's been sitting out all day, but I don't chuck it if she doesn't eat all of it and it's fresh. I'll stick it in the fridge and give it to her for her next bottle if it's appropriate.
