What's wrong, icequeen? Have you gotten more info since your thread?
No, I am trying to stay sane until my US and BW tomorrow at the office. I'm just obsessing over it and really don't want to do any more Clomid. It just sucks because I respond so well to it. I got some great info on my thread so I'm going to run the other options by my RE tomorrow. I'm just picturing getting bad news and being upset again.

icequeen, dunno about right now, but anecdotally, I've heard vitamin E supplementation, red raspberry leaf tea, baby aspirin and pomegranate juice all help to increase lining. But in the anecdotes I've heard, it's been from beginning of cycle onward. The thought is increased blood flow and regenerative properties help replenish the lining. No idea if it's bunkum or helpful or in between, but it's worth considering if the estrace doesn't help this cycle.

Thanks, girl! I was reading about the herbal supplements earlier. I am definitely willing to give it a shot. I'll run it by the RE tomorrow, too.

icequeen, I had also heard about baby asprin, but have no real life knowledge.
PonyGirl This was my first cycle temping. I'm the worst sleeper ever, tossing turning, getting up and letting the dog out etc. FF had no problem finding the shift. The only weird temps I had were huge drinking spikes, and today when I actually never got 3 hours of sleep last night. I just tested at 3am because I was up and was never going to hit 3 hours. I did default ff to 3am because that's my most typical wake up time, and because I didn't want my chart to be full of crazy open circles every single day. I typically temp anywhere between 1am and 4am.
Hey All! I was sent over here from TB and hoping to get some help/be able to chat with some of you lovely people!
Im a total newbie so forgive my lack of acronym knowledge (ill catch on eventually! )
Husband and I started trying in August of 2014, I've been off BCP since July of 2013. Currently not using BBT method but testing for Ovulation and using a fertility tracker. I have Hashimotos and up until recently have had VERY regular cycles, 28/29 days MAX.. now all of a sudden they're at 36/37. Anyone else experience this?
My second question was about BBT. I've tried in the past but wasn't sure if it was working for me (Our dog gets up EARLY and wakes me to take him outside) Because its not a natural wake-up and a shorter sleep, am I crazy or can I still use BBT?

cycles can change at any time and usually means nothing. I wouldn't worry about that. Temp when your dog wakes you in the middle of the night. You will be fine. The only way to know if it's not going to work and show a shift is if you try.

Cycles are regular, until they're not.
I temp BBT and my dog gets me up anywhere between 1:30 amd 5 am, usually twice a night. I just test after 3 consequtive hours of sleep, and hope that it's as close to 3am as possible because that's his/out most consistant waking time.
FF was able to detect ovulation even with crazy sleeping patterns. Actually, it seemed to have the most issues with my drinking spikes rather than the times I was waking up.
It's really going to be the best way to know what is going on with your cycles, especially if you're experiencing longer cycles every now and again. You'll know when you ovulated, when to test etc.
Thanks for the quick response @led & mainewifey Ill definitely start BBT. I usually get a good 6 hours of solid sleep just everything I read said to test before getting up and about. With a dog on top of you waiting to go outside its hard to be perfectly still for that long!
Has anyone ever used at-home SA testing? I know they're not the same as a doctor obviously but are they any bit reliable in telling you if Sperm count is high enough etc.? We cant get referred to a specialist for another 6 months or so, then waiting to get in will be atleast 6 months if not more.. just wondering if that could be something to attempt in the meantime?

I just make my dog wait until the thermometer beeps. He's not very patient, and whines but I get my temp and then I take his stubbon ass outside.
I wouldn't bother with the at-home testing. A doctor isn't going to take the results seriously, and it will be a waste of money.
The reason you can't get a referral is because you haven't been trying long enough. It can take a perfectly healthy couple with no issues, and good timing a year to conceive. Just chart your temps, hump it out, and have fun for now. Don't borrow trouble.
I know from experience that when we were just having sex it was a whole lot more fun and less stressful than it is knowing now that we have a problem. I don't think either H or I would have given up the fun that we had over the past year having as much sex as possible for the stress, paperwork, testing, and constant check writing we have now, in order to have a baby 6-12 months faster. I'm sure that not everyone feels that way, but I thats how I feel. I think it was good for us to be "normal" as long as possible, and I think the good times are helping to get us through these bad times.

You don't really have to be perfectly still. Just don't get up and out of bed. I leave my thermometer on the nightstand, but occasionally it gets knocked off and I have to feel around on the floor for it. Doesn't make much of a difference in my temps (like maybe .1 degree, sometimes). You can shoo the dog away and then take your temp. It helps to get one of the BBTs that stores your last temp so you can come back to it later, that way you're not having to remember it to put it in your phone.

I'm like, never perfectly still. I often wake (or get woken) up before temp time, and I always wait because the time is important for me. I'm also usually warding off a toddler that wants to play with her favorite toy (aka my BBT). My chart is sometimes rocky, but shift is still clear (and most of the off temps are due to other factors, not that).

Sounds about like me (except without the toddler and with 2 small dogs). For a while I had my FitBit wake me up each morning, and when it would vibrate on my wrist it would startle me and I'd flail for a second trying to make it stop. Still no issue temping.
I hope this isn't too much of a newbie question, but I'm hoping y'all could share your advice.
At what point should I tell my GYN we're TTC? Is it simply when I get a BFP I just call? I went off NuvaRing back in July and we've been actively trying since August. It only just occurred to me that perhaps I should have told my doc that I went off BC and that we're trying. I got AF back and have fairly regular cycles (they vary in length, but not too badly; between 30 and 40 days), so no real issues yet. My annual is due in May...
The other thing is I know I don't want to use this doctor as my OB... I like the group well enough for routine stuff, but I would prefer to go with a Midwife during pregnancy. I've identified a midwife practice near me that has rave reviews from past moms. Should I set up a prelim appointment with them now? Or is that really jumping the gun before I'm KU. I tend to lean towards the latter, but I worry to a degree that if I wait they may not have room in their practice for me once I am pregnant.
Any thoughts?
ETA: I neglected to mention I have Hashimotos and my endocrinologist is aware I'm TTC, but not my gyn. Not sure if that changes anything, but thought I'd give you all the details.

I don't think you need to tell your doctor anything, unless you need to discuss other meds. you are currently on... I mention it when I have appointments for a couple of reasons. First, so that if a year goes by my doctor knows that I've been trying and there might be some documentations in my charts. Second, and more importantly, I want any medications I'm on to be safe for conception / early pregnancy. I'm very prone to UTIs, and some antibiotics are friendlier than others. But I also just see my gp for my annuals and paps. I wouldn't make a pre-conception appointment unless you have specific questions/concerns. Depending on your area though, it can sometimes be harder to get into a new obgyn practice once you are pregnant... so a prelim appointment isn't the worst idea...

There's no need to let your gyn in on it until there is an issue for which you need a referral.
Each midwifery practice (and OB practice) is different. Back in the day when that as option for me, I simply called the midwife I wanted to see and set a preliminary appointment to discuss her practice and and what potential issues I had and whether or not midwifery was optimal for me. I saw the mw for gyn care until I got pregnant and then just called her up per her instruction. Given that you have an on-going dx and treatment plan that could be impacted by pregnancy, you may not meet their standard of care. That's worth discussing in advance.

The only reason I told my Gyn is because I happened to have my annual already scheduled after MH and I made the decision to start trying later this year. Had we decided after my annual, I wouldn't have called her up to tell her or anything.
The Gyn is a big OB/Gyn practice with midwives and I plan to stay with this office through all my pre-natal/post-natal care if I get pregnant, and I still wouldn't have gone out of my way to tell them.

I don't have a gyn, I usually do all my exams and paps through my PCP. So I mentioned to her at my annual exam (2 weeks ago) that I was TTC, mostly because she asked me why I hadn't been in for my Depo shot in a year or so.
She did a quick check for me to see if there were any immunization boosters I'd be needing in the next year or so (whooping cough, etc) that would be good to do before I got pregnant, but other than that she basically just said good luck and have fun.

Your post reminded me that I haven't been vaccinated at all for whooping cough (I had a horrible reaction to it as a baby, my dad's an MD, so of course I was vaccinated for everything else). Ugh, that makes me nervous too.
Thanks mainewifey, I know why I can't get a referral, I'm not pushing for one and I totally understand it takes time and the healthiest of couples can have a struggle.. I have a family history of fertility problems and my endocrinologist telling me it'll be an uphill battle so it's always on my mind unfortunately! Trying to ask my questions here so it's less to think/worry about and I can get back to the fun part!
Sparkly & pismoduo, thank you! I'm convinced now I can do it successfully (and I've lost a BBT to puppy teething so I feel you there too )

Apparently now they include it as part of your tetanus booster. So maybe the formula's changed? Worth asking your doctor about next time you see them.

The last couple times I've head the tetnus booster I've gotten the one without the whooping cough because of my reaction as a kid...

It is now recommended that all pregnant women get the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis - which is whooping cough) with every pregnancy. Some doctors give it during your third trimester and some immediately after delivery. It is becoming more common (and IMO makes more sense) during pregnancy, so you can pass some of the antibodies onto the baby in utero.
Adults only need the booster once every 10 years, I believe, so if you've had any kind of tetanus booster within the last decade I would just wait. Unless you're frequently around infants or young children and didn't have the Tdap specifically. You will need it if/when you're pregnant regardless of when you had it last at that time.

Also, just adding - if you had a reaction as a baby/kid, you should certainly mention it to your doctor, but I wouldn't be super concerned. Vaccines have changed a lot over the years. I don't know that it was like this then, but infants and children get a different version called the DTap so who knows, you might not have the same reaction to today's Tdap vaccine that you did then.
