DH is wanting to book a trip to Mexico tonight for a few weeks from now. I'll be 19/20 weeks while there. I'm excited to go and get some sun but worried this may be a bad idea. I've asked my OB about travel and she said no more after 24 weeks.
So what do you say twin mamas? Have you traveled internationally while pregnant? Would you?
I did not travel internationally, so I cannot speak to that, but we did take a babymoon to Florida (which is a short flight away) when I was 19 weeks. I will say that I do not regret going at all, but that was also when I started noticing my body getting more tired and sore. We did a lot of walking in the town we were in, and it was extra exhausting. Just make sure you plan LOTS of rest time!
Related question: What if the travel is a day and a half car trip instead of a flight? How late is that practical?
It really depends on how far along you are. I was never really comfortable being more than an hour or two away. Things can change so quickly in a twin pregnancy.
Riding in the car gets uncomfortable pretty early. I would plan for hourly stops to stretch.
I have an OB appt tomorrow so I'm going to double check everything with her. We have trip insurance so if she thinks it's a terrible idea, we'll cancel.
We are doing Mexico in May for a friend's wedding , I will be about 19 weeks or so. OB was ok with it, I have to have an appointment right before I go and take my records with me just incase something happens. I did get the trip insurance just incase I needed to cancel for some reason.
I can't wait! It will probably be our last vacation alone for a while!

We went to Scotland while K was 23-24 weeks pregnant. The only think our OB said was to make sure we knew where/how to get to a hospital in case something came up, but otherwise to have fun.
We brought our body pillow so K could sleep better - it was actually a great idea if you have space for it.
My OB gave me the OK for going on the trip which makes me feel better. I have an appt and u/s the Friday before we leave which will give me extra piece of mind.
Thanks for sharing all of your experiences and advice!
