My dogs are soooo spoiled. When my Motley boy was around we actually kept him in mind when purchasing our new vehicle. I wanted to make sure he had enough room because he was 140lbs. Thus how I ended up with a 4 door Jeep Wrangler, ps I secretly wanted it anyways. My Pomeranian has probably cost me over $6,000 in vet bills in the 2 years that he has been alive. He even eats dog food that cost $34 for an 8lb bag, due to gastrointestinal issues. Luckily he is only 10lbs and eats small portions. People have commended me for how much effort and money I have put into my Pom, but I wouldn't have it any other way. A lot people don't realize how much these animals give back to us. I can't imagine my life with out my dogs and would go great lengths for them. We just adopted our little puggle a couple of weeks ago and her and gizmo both sleep on the bed right next to H and I. She's is even getting fed the expensive food because it's the best food for them and I want the best for them.
Another fun one from my inlaws. They are retired and bought an RV so they can take their dog with them on vacation. The only reason they bought it was for the dog and they want to get it personalized with "[dogs name]'s Dog House]" on it. The dog also only eats human food.
But then again my dad makes his dogs scrambled eggs for breakfast.
This thread has me cracking up. I am glad there are crazy pet owners like us everywhere.
My mom's dog had puppies and we got our two boys from that litter. Really good friends of ours got a girl puppy from her as well. When the four of us get together it is seriously like we are all discussing our children. It is hilarious, lol.
I have actually been told by DH to stop buying the dogs toys (then he will go out and buy them something). Our parents buy the dogs Christmas presents every year. They eat better than we do, the cats too. The cats have gotten two new cat trees in the last month, plus new toys.
We have gone to the same place for our anniversary for the last three years and the last two years we have paid extra so that the dogs can come along for the weekend.
I am sure there are lots of other silly things that we do but that's all I've got for right now.

@emilie818 A++++ you win the Internet today
bl1210 I wish my dog watched TV, that is a perfect show for your dogs. Dying!
@rooksie my dog used to be *right underfoot* when I made scrambled eggs and I couldn't figure out why because he hasn't ever been a begging dog. ended up mentioning it to my dad and he was like "oh yeah I feed the dog scrambled eggs when you and DH go out of town"

I love this thread! I do so many of these too!
I bought a comfy woven rug for one of the dogs because he likes to sit in front of the sliding glass door to sun himself. He started to rip out strips of the fabric. H saw and was concerned that he was ruining the rug, I said "oh yah, I saw that he does that so I bought a second one to replace it if he ruins it. He just enjoys himself so much, and the rug is for him, so I don't care if he chews it or sleeps on it". The replacement rug is to prolong his fun, not because I care about the rug

I have to sit in the back seat when our dog is in the truck.
Hahaha! This reminded me of the last trip we took with our dogs in which I crawled into the backseat because the dogs were whining, while the car was moving might I add. The smaller dog then got into the front seat, laid down and went to sleep. He was the one making the most noise in the first place.

Our dog goes to doggie daycare twice a week, MH gets up an hour early to walk him every morning, he's better fed than us, and he gets all the treats. He has two beds in our bedroom- one is self warming.
And as much as we spoil him, my MIL is worse. She'll drop veggies and steak while cooking. She also lets him shred all the wrapping paper every Christmas. He's her favorite.

I'm late to this thread, I know. My pup turns five next Wednesday. My dad is her favorite person and she is his favorite dog (even over his own), so I got her a pup cake and my folks are coming over Friday for a birthday party. But mostly so she can see her pawpaw. I can almost guarantee that they will stop and get her a kids meal from Chick-fil-a because its her favorite.

My husband just sawed a hole in the wall of our brand new house to create the ultimate cat door so Miss Penny can go in and out as she pleases. I won't even start on my dogs. Soooo spoiled. I swear the boys get kisses good morning from DH before I do!
We also have a bird feeder that DH moved to the front of the yard so the cat can watch it. I do stuff like make sure her bed has fresh blankets, keep the blinds open a bit so she can jump onto the window sill and dry her off after she plays in the bathtub. DH says I coddle my cat, but she loves it! I have always been a cat person but my last cat didn't really like me much (she preferred men over women). Since my current cat is super cuddly and affectionate I like doing things for her. Weirdo, I know!
DH built a carpeted ramp up to our couch and another one going up to our bed when our Yorkie had leg surgery 4 years ago. He loves to go for rides so we try to take him pretty regularly. He always has to be sleeping up against me so DH usually gets pushed to the side for Max.
Our outside stray cats now come inside to sleep every night. We've bought them catnip toys a few times, but they refuse to play with them. We keep trying though.
Our border collie that was also a stray gets to come inside at least once a week to have couch time with her people, much to Max's dismay. She has us trained so that when her toy that you put treats in in empty she throws it up against the door so we will refill it for her.
It's like a zoo at our house, but it makes us happy to see our pets so happy.
TL;DR version at the bottom. Our first dog had major separation anxiety. Went through every trick in the book before consulting 3 different dog trainers/behaviorists. Every one said "don't get another dog, he's more likely to make the other dog anxious than be cured by another dog." This 14 lb shih tzu destroyed our apartment. Chewed through 3 metal crates. Found him in a pool of blood once because he had tried to chew himself out of a his last crate. That's when our vet said he would die if we left him alone. So for the next six months he either went to work with me or my husband (can't afford doggy day care, it's about $500 a month in these parts). Finally our vet said "just try getting him a buddy and see what happens." So we adopted our dog a dog. And they both lived happily ever after.
