Older sibling room/AW thread

Moms already with kids, any interest in sharing big sibling's room? We just finished most of the big things we want to do to DS's new room and I want to be an AW!

This is what the room was-storage, a closet full of random things, so for one getting through this and actually giving everything a home has made me feel way more organized!




Now:







The pictures beside his closet are all the 4th gen. My grandpa has since passed so it hit me that none of the rest of our kids will get to have all 4, so I wanted to print them and have them up. DS loves it and since putting it up yesterday he goes in there just to look at the pictures



These are also new for him. When he saw them yesterday he started kissing the tractors. I grew up on a farm and we live in a small farming community so he sees machinery all the time and thinks it's so cool





Phew! So, most of the major things are in except DS now! We are going to move the curtains over from the nursery because they'll look better in this room, and I have curtains on order to put in the nursery. Just want to pick up a lamp and garbage can, and maybe a new laundry basket. Either this room or the nursery will get the new basket.

AW away! And if this thread is a big fat fail then just make it an AW thread so I'm not here by myself

DS's room is a mess right now. No way am I taking a picture and posting it for the world to see. LOL

We havent set up DDs Sesame Street bed yet. Maybe this weekend after that and i get a chance to clean it up a bit

Fun!

So this was my son's "before" room - we moved in fairly quickly and never painted the walls.  He wanted two different colors of curtains, so that's what he had.




We wanted to get him a "big boy" bed and furniture and move his stuff into the nursery for the baby.  You may remember me posting about the horrendous paint color he picked that resembled baby poop.  But I think we did an okay job of working with it.



We were going to go with dark wood furniture, but I was worried with the dark pain he picked that would be too dark, so we ended up with white furniture to balance.  And the blue worked really well with those two colors, so we incorporated that in the decor.

billyhorrible, it REALLY looks like baby poop! Haha you are right though- you did a great job working with it! Love the rug! Also, props to you for letting your kiddo make independent decisions and actually going with it!

Hopefully in the next month we will have the basement finished for DS. He wants a minecraft theme room! Ugh that stuff is so expensive!!!! But I have found some really cool ideas on pintrest. I can't wait to finish it and actually start on the nursery!! I keep thinking it will never get done!

DD's room is still a nursery! We are in no rush to move her from her crib so long as she doesn't start climbing out. It's a travel themed room and I still love it.

sugarkissed Soo soo cute! I love the colors! Our guest bedroom is travel themed but in more vintage tones. Travel themed décor is so fun! We have a giant wall map waiting for us to be picked up at the post office that's going to be an accent wall in that room

Thanks pbubblegum and belle0720! I was a flight attendant while decorating her nursery so the travel theme just seemed fitting.

We are hoping to move my son into his new bedroom in the next few weeks; we moved in here in Sept. and put all the stuff we didn't want to deal with in the 3rd bedroom (now to be his room) and have been trying to get that cleared up. Can't wait to get his room set up though! Love all the pictures you guys posted.
