Ok ladies. I go back to work this weekend. Sad face. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to pump at work. I'll be pumping in the unit secretary office as she doesn't work on weekends. There are outlets, but no water or fridge. I've got myself on a schedule/routine where I'll need to pump twice at work. I have two sets of pump parts so no need to refrigerate them, I can wash when I get home. If I bring a lunch bag with ice packs would it be reasonable to keep milk in there for about 10 hours? I do have access to a fridge in the staff lounge if needed. I also want to minimize the amount of stuff I have to bring and how much I have to walk around with in a germ-infested hospital. Thoughts on pumping into bottle, emptying into a bag, keeping bottle in lunch bag with ice pack and reusing for the second pump?
I can't remember what time frame it is for milk in a cooler but I know you can look it up. I'll be getting a lunch box that will hold 1 set of pump parts and 2 bottles. I'll bag up what I pump and put it all in the lunch box in a fridge. I'd hate to have it go bad!

Medela has some wipes for pump parts if you don't have access to soap and water, or if you can't put your parts in the fridge. I use those and keep my milk in a lunch box in the fridge at work.
I use the break room fridge to store my BM (inside small lunch box), and there is a bathroom near my office I am able to wash my flanges and bottles. I have to pump 3 times a day and it seems to work well for me. I keep a box of storage bags at my desk and as soon as I am done pumping I put it in the bags and then to the fridge.

Anyone know the laws about pumping at work? I think we talked about it somewhere but I could just be crazy. Right now I can only pump on lunch break and my only choice is either the bathroom or my car..not exactly my idea of fun..
When I worked 12s with my last LO, I used the staff fridge. I did still bring a lunch box with ice packs in it in case I had to rush right back from my break and couldn't swing back by the break room. (I was in an ICU with very unsympathetic co-workers). I would strongly suggest the medela wipes- my pump parts just stayed kind of grimey even after washing before I got them. I got flippin mastitis 8 times before I weaned my baby because it was so hard to get away to pump. I hope your unit is more accommodating! Mine is now- we got a whole influx of new grads and they all had babies. Totally changed the culture. I digress. Wipes, fridge, lunchbox, ice packs and you should be good.
