I've been dwelling on our name choices a lot lately and just not feeling 100% so dh and I went through again and came up with our new top 2. Which do you prefer? I'm 38 weeks and am hoping I can feel settled on something soon.
Also my grandma who has passed was really special to me - her name was Barbara which I see means "foreigner." Some sources I've found says Ella means something similar. Can anyone verify that anywhere? I never know what websites to trust for that. If so, I think that's an obscure but neat connection (not that the meaning is awesome but that it's the same...)
#1 - 10/10 | #2 - lost but not forgotten 10/12 | #3 - 7/13 | #4 - 5/15 Diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 12/19/16 Finished with chemo 4/27/17! Double mastectomy summer 17 Radiation fall 17
While Cara is NMS at all, I would much rather see a Cara running around than another Ella.
Agree with the others, Clara would be lovely to see!
Per Behind The Name:Ella is the "Norman form of the Germanic name Alia, which was a short form of names containing the Germanic element alja meaning "other." Also the diminutive of Eleanor: "From the Old French form of the Occitan name Aliénor. She was named Aenor after her mother, and was called by the Occitan phrase alia Aenor "the other AENOR" in order to distinguish her from her mother." Also the diminutive of Ellen: RE: Helen: "probably from Greek ‘ελενη (helene) "torch" or "corposant", or possibly related to σεληνη (selene) "moon."
Thanks everyone! Our mn is already set (she will be a 5th generation with the mn as part of her name). I knew Ella was popular, but don't know many kids so I didn't have any IRL references.
