I'm 20% into a book called The House Girl. It has been a struggle to get into it but I am curious about the ending. I can't say whether I would recommend it right now. It is a library e-book borrow and I think it is due soon so I need to read it quickly. Plus I want to reach my goal of reading 40 books this year and I feel like this book is slowing me down.
I'm reading A Storm of Swords, the third book in the Game of Thrones series. I'm trying to catch up to the show. My goodreads goal this year is 25 books. I hope we can revive the book club at some point.
I just finished reading Outlander. I would definitely recommend it.
I just started reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. I'm only 20 pages in so, I don't know if I'd recommend it. I did love Gone Girl and I liked Sharp Objects so, I'm hoping this one will be good too.
I think I just need help figuring out what I like to read now. I used to read a TON and got out of the habit through high school and college. (Apparently I have authority issues- if you tell me I have to read it, I will not enjoy it just out of spite.) during maternity leave I started the first book in Marius' Mules because it was recommended by another Latin teacher, but it isn't very good so far so I haven't read much of it.
I just finished Gone Girl. I started Stay With Me yesterday. So far it's pretty good. After I read this one I'm going to go back and finish Sharp Objects since I never did. I need to look into the e-books to see if it's something our library offers.

Honestly... reading has turned into a thing of my past. I just can't find the time to do it anymore. And any extra time I do get to read, I find myself gravitating towards some sort of parenting book... In the early days it was the Happiest Baby on the Block, but now we've graduated to Potty Training books.

My goal is 20 I'm off to a rocky start. I used to be able to finish a book in 2-3 days.
Right now I'm ready a tale for the time being. It's about a depressed Japanese teenagers diary washes up on the shore in Canada and a novelist finds it so it goes back and forth between the diary and the novelist. It's good. Not so good I can't put it down but I haven't had the chance to get into it yet so that could change.
I love the goldfinch. I can't wait for the movie (it will be out in a couple of years. They haven't even cast it yet!). I'm on the second outlander book. I need to get back into it soon!

I've been reading J.K. Rowling's little companion books to the Harry Potter series. Quick, easy, and fun reads! I have Hedy's Folly on my nightstand to read next. I'm also working on rereading the Hunger Games trilogy, because after watching Catching Fire, I realized I'd forgotten most everything about the books beyond the basics.
ETA: My goal is 25 books. And that's not counting the disturbing amount of fanfiction I read. Oi.

I agree thelorax. I don't get my kicks by reading them by any means.. haha! I pick them up more so for situations that I don't know how to handle to help give me tips... I got a lot of great tips from Happiest Baby when G was colicky, which I had no idea how to handle. And right now potty training books because I've never p-trained before and am not sure what approach to take.
So... the times I read them are more situational, not necessarily how to be a good parent or anything like that.

What kind of fan fiction? I've heard a lot about it on Parenting, but haven't read any because gay sex just doesn't thrill me. Is there fan fiction for like...all books?
Lolz.
There is fanfiction for anything and everything you can imagine. Not every fandom has very well written things, and there are some genres that are much more prolific than others.
I primarily read Harry Potter fanfiction. The majority of stuff I read these days is totally non-sex-filled (I read a lot while breastfeeding and putting LO to bed, so it would be really weird to read smut then).
I am reading 'The Marriage Game' by Alison Weir and 'Prince Lestat' by Anne Rice. I love Anne Rice but I'm not so sure about this one. My goal is to read 80 books this year.

I've been meaning to tell you that I am seriously impressed with how many books you read. I get emails from goodreads with updates and I'm in awe.

I just finished "This is where I leave you" - it came out as a movie a couple of months ago with Jason Bateman, but I actually started it WAY before that (Nora threw off my game with reading, so I have been slowly working on this book for several months now). It is pretty good - I bit raunchy at parts, but I liked it.
It's hard to find time to read in the evenings but I'm getting to read 25 books this year. I'm also working in smocking projects so I have to balance the two! I'm just starting The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty. She's an Australian author and I just discovered her books. What Alice Forgot was my first book of hers and now I want to read them all! The Husband's Secret is about a woman who opens a letter from her husband that she wasn't supposed to open until he died.

sctiger I've been into Liane Moriarty too. I just finished one of hers a couple weeks ago.
My free time lately has been consumed with Captain Hook...er binging on OUAT... but I need to find another book. My Kindle invoices have been high lately so I've been trying to stick with my monthly free rentals from them or ebooks from our library. I also need to login into Goodreads sometime. I haven't updated that in ages.

Okay, so I also want to read The Husband's Secret (have it on my nook, just haven't read it), and I need to find this Alison Weir book. Right now I'm reading OITNB, and then I'm going to read The Orchardist, both for my book club.
Currently reading the memoir the spouse's client gave me (ug) and I just pulled David Sedaris's latest from the library so I'll probably finish that one first.
My goal this year is only 12 books. Love reading but I just don't have the time. This month is more than halfway over and I've read about a chapter and a half.

I love Dave Sedaris! I remember laughing out loud reading When You Are Engulfed in Flames on the El when I lived in Chicago.
...I think that was the title?
I generally really like them. I've also read that one and Me Talk Pretty One Day. Plus the short essay style is an easy type of read to handle these days!
I'm in the middle of Gone Girl. I've been reading it for a couple months, it's just hard to find time when there's so much other stuff going on. My coworker lent me This is Where I Leave You. We watched the movie this weekend, so I'm excited to get into that one.
My sister in law recently mentioned a couple books on her blog that's she's read recently - In An Unspoken Voice and Me Before You. I would like to read both of those.
We're taking a road trip next month, so I'm hoping to devote some time to reading then.
