Unlike the news on the radio I was listening to this morning....I don't think more rigorously mental checks of pilots would have caught this one rouge co pilot....If he really wanted to do it most likely he would be able to hide is feelings and say all the right things at the doctor check in.
Please don't take this the wrong way this story is so tragic....I can't even discuss how officials were able to hear screaming of passengers at the end.

Agreed. I've come across people like this. There are psychos out there so messed up but so good with their poker faces.
Your last sentence makes my heart hurt. This stuff bothered me before I was a mom, but now things like this are a thousand times more painful.
I will probably get flamed big but I don't believe churches should have to preform same sex marriage.
I am all for same sex marriage but I don't think churches should be flamed for not performing them.
I don't think that churches should be able to perform legal marriages at all. I think that we should completely separate the religious ceremony from the legal linkage between two individuals. ETA: I don't really think this will ever happen.

Is a ceremony in a church legal if you haven't gone to the courthouse first for the license?

No, but the license isn't legal unless a ceremony has been performed. That ceremony can be purely civic, or it can be religious. I'm saying I don't think that a religious ceremony ought to be able to finalize a legal contract. It should be like any other legal contract.

Agreed, and I think anyone who would go after a church for not agreeing to marry them (a same sex couple) is wrong. I'm not sure many seek to be married in churches that think being gay is a sin, though. A church can refuse to marry a hetero couple because they live together or had a child out of wedlock. Heck, they can refuse to marry someone for no good reason.
I saw Indiana just passed a law that would essentially allow businesses to discriminate based on their religious beliefs? I really don't get that. Why does a baker care if their cake is going to be eaten at a gay wedding? No one's asking them to perform the ceremony or attend the wedding. They just want to buy a cake. If it's THAT much of an issue, is it so hard to say "I'm sorry, but I'm unavailable to bake a cake for you that day" and leave it at that? I think a business owner has the right to refuse business but I still think they're an ass if they admit it's because it's for a gay couple.

I think the problem some bakers are running into is that they're being baited so they can be sued. At least I can think of a few situations where that is the case. They have to be overly cautious because anything they say can be used against them in a courtroom.
Most of the time I don't reuse my towels at hotels even though they have the little save the environment sign. I'm really good at home so when I stay away, I want a clean, fresh towel everyday.
I think the environment signs are a scam so they don't have to spend money on washing and more towels.
