How's breastfeeding going? How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? How many solid meals? Who has started weaning? Any tips? Vents, raves and anything else you want to share?

How's breastfeeding going? Great, I just need to get her to decrease the MOTN feedings How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? 8months, nurses at about 7am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm and 2-3 MOTN feedings. How many solid meals? She doesn't eat a lot yet, I offer her food when we eat, so breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes I give her purees, sometimes it's finger food. She'll eat about 2oz of puree at once. But if she's actually hungry all she wants is BM Who has started weaning? Any tips?nope, planning on letting her self wean, unless I go back to work, definitely not going to be pimping at work again. Vents, raves and anything else you want to share?
How's breastfeeding going? Been better. After my clogged duct went away about two weeks ago, I've had stinging in my nipple when she eats. Plus I still have a white spot that hasn't resolved itself yet.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? She is 8 months today! And still every 2-2.5 hours. At night it's been every 3 hours
How many solid meals? She gets either cereal or puréed food at breakfast. Usually 2 oz. then another 2 oz of puréed veggies for dinner.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? Plan on letting her self wean, just not ready for it yet.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? Just having issues with nipple pain and having a hard time figuring out if and when DD should be spacing out her feedings more at this point.
How's breastfeeding going? Going well. I've made it 8 months as of yesterday! I'm incredibly proud of myself. How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? DD turned 8 months yesterday. I nurse on the weekends about 4x a day and pump 1-2x a day at work and nurse 2x a day during the work week. How many solid meals? DD gets breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. Her favorites include chicken noodle soup and any kind of berry. Who has started weaning? Any tips? Not yet. I keep going back and forth on when to do this. I have a work conference in early April. Selfishly, I'd like her weaned by then so I don't have to bring a pump and actually pump 3-4x a day during the week I'm gone. Starting the weaning process makes me sad so I keep putting it off. Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? When are you all making the switch to regular milk?

How's breastfeeding going? It was going really well until December. Then everyone got sick and kept reinfecting each other over and over. My supply suffered really badly.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? He's nine months today. I pump at 6am, 9am, 12p, 3p, 6, and 9p (it sounds like a lot, but I'm also pumping to help supplement my little sister's baby)
How many solid meals? Solids are apparently only for smashing and throwing on the floor. We still try for breakfast, lunch, and dinner though.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? I would really, really like my kid to start eating solids instead of just throwing them.
How's breastfeeding going? We have good days and bad days. Last night I couldn't get her calm enough to nurse well before bed and that's usually one of her best feeds. It has my mind on weaning, as many of you know!
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? Our schedule is nurse at 7 am (sometimes at 8:30 am right before I leave for work), nurse again at NOON (when I am home for lunch), nurse at 5pm (when I get home for the day) and nurse again somewhere between 6 and 7 pm (right before she goes to bed). Overnight I nurse anywhere from 0 - 2 times. Last night I nursed at 1:30 am and 4:30 am
How many solid meals? 3. She eats breakfast lunch and dinner. If she seems hungry she'll have a morning and afternoon snack. Breakfast is usually half a banana, some starts, a bit of oatmeal mixed with fruit. Lunch is usually some sort of protein (baby chicken noodle soup) with some mashed potatoes - she LOVES mashed potatoes and dinner is something similar.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? No tips from me. You lovely ladies have been providing thoughts and insight all week, because like jcrewgirl I have a work conference in May and I'm worried about it
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? Also, jcrewgirl, I introduced wm this week. LO is 9 months now and the new Canadian guideline is to introduce anywhere between 9 and 12 months. I started because I'm worried LO is a tad on the small size. She's always been between 10 and 25th percentile. Dr. isn't worried but I want to make sure she's getting enough good fats. On that note, we've only been doing approx an ounce for the last two days. She's exhibited no signs of an allergy and is LOVING it.
How's breastfeeding going? Everything has been great, happy that my thrush seems to be gone; I had it for about 6 months straight.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/ pumping? She is close to 8.5 months. She eats at 7 am, 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm, 6 pm and then a top up before bed at 7 pm. Has now been waking up to eat 3 or 4 times in the last week, so could be the 8 month sleep regression. Won't go back to sleep without eating and I am too tired to fight that right now.
How many solid meals? She eats basically 3 meals with me. Odd time a snack as well. She screams bloody murder if I don't give her my food fast enough, so this has made me make really healthy meals lately!
Vents? I would like for her to start feeding herself, but she just squishes it- this is why I have to give it to her and consider that modified BLW. I still look for clues that she is full and done eating.
kittenzilla, that's awesome that you're able to help your niece out in that way :-)
Thanks! It was nice to have my oversupply actually work out to be a good thing. I never thought I'd be upset to lose it. Drinking all of the Gatorade this week!
Pretty good. It's getting harder to get LO to nurse as much as he used to (details below).
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping?
Jack will be 8 months on the 24th and goes about 3 hours between feedings during the day. During the week, I nurse in the morning, when we get home from work/day care, and before bed. I pump 3x at work. He usually STTN but occasionally wakes once (probably due to teething) and usually goes back to sleep without feeding. On weekends, I breastfeed (no pumping).
How many solid meals?
2-3/day. Lunch and dinner and we are working on introducing breakfast.
Who has started weaning? Any tips?
Not yet. Planning to breastfeed until at least 1 year old. I'd like him to self wean.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share?
This is the first time I've posted in the "Breastfeeding Checkin!" Also, on weekends (I work FT) when I nurse, he will usually only take 1 breast and refuse the other. He used to always feed from both breasts at each session. I don't know if he is full or distracted. Of course being the worrisome mom I am, I figure he is distracted and still hungry so I offer him the other breast an hour or so later. So then we get into a pattern of him nursing every hour or 2 . He does eat solids so maybe this is just his normal reduction in breastmilk. I guess I should wait until he demands a feeding to figure it out.
How's breastfeeding going? Pretty well. We hit 8 months yesterday! Yay!
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? 8 months, She eats about every 3 hours. When I'm away from her, I pump on the same schedule. We're averaging one MOTN feed right now.
How many solid meals? 2-3. She gets 2 at DC when she goes, and 1 at home, but sometimes when she's at home she'll only get two. She's not always that interested.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? Not yet. Also hoping to let her self-wean
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? 8 month milestone! I'm so proud of it! Especially considering there were days when I just wanted to give up.
How's breastfeeding going? Good and bad. I got a new pump (hospital grade) which has upped my supply as well as is helping with my stubborn clog. However, DS has ANOTHER cold and is having a hard time nursing. Poor baby.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? 8 1/2 months. Nursing/pumping about every 2-3 hours. When I'm at home he eats on demand which is anywhere from 1-3 hours apart.
How many solid meals? up to 3. sometimes he'll have a bit of cereal puffs for breakfast and a little veggies and fruits for lunch and/or dinner. Somedays, however, we just get so busy we never get around to solids - but he's just fine without. He just nurses more.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? No weaning here. I'm shooting for 12 months breastfeeding right now. I'm hoping to go even longer.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? MIL just can't seem to get that DS needs to (1) have milk BEFORE solids... like right before... so the solids don't fill his belly and make him not hungry for milk and (2) he should ONLY have water when eating solids. I love my new pump - it's so efficient and has helped me bring my left side up to 2 oz per pump (instead of 1oz) - I'm hoping it will help me make my girls more even again
Other share: I just saw that kitchencolors is no longer a mod and the communities have no mod anymore, period. So... yeah... I'm leaning towards GBCB for good.

jcrewgirl I think we Will wait until closer to 12months to introduce WCM. And then it will be in addition to nursing, not instead of. DD1 still refuses to drink it, hopefully we won't have that problem with DD2.
DD is 8mo, and she is nursing about 6 times a day, and pumping 1-2 times at work.
How many solid meals?
She gets 2 oz twice a day, breakfast and lunch. Who has started weaning? Any tips?
Not planning on weaning I don't think. I will just follow her lead. I hope she'll nurse until 12-18 months.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share?
I am really over the distracted nursing! The rolling, the whining, then crying! I can't tell if she's done or wants more. And she keeps beating me up. Pulling my hair, flicking my lip, picking my nose. But I love our time, and don't want to give it up any time soon.
How's breastfeeding going? We do all right. After I got over the initial strangeness of doing it, and got past not being able to feel the let down sensations, we hit a decent rhythm, and suddenly it is this late in the game!
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? She will be 8 months in a few days, and we are at a fewer nursings type of pattern. In the hour or so before she wakes up for good in the morning, I let her nurse while still mostly asleep, then get her to drain both sides before we get out of bed for good. She will have a midday nurse right before naptime, then another in the early evening, again before napping. Then we get a snack later in the evening, usually, and a last one right at bedtime. The motn feeds are flexible and really just depend on how much she wakes herself up. We seem to be transitioning more to generally sttn with MAYBE one wake up to eat at all.
How many solid meals? Sounds like I might be jumping the gun a bit, but babygirl loves ALL the foods. She has no teeth yet, so I am careful about shape and size and texture, but she will typically eat 2 4oz jars of fruits/veggies (but holy cow, she ate 4 yesterday!) as well as cereal puffs or baby rice crackers to practice finger pickups. She also yells at me to share my food, so she gets bites of almost everything I eat. I have refused her anything with nuts, though, since she had a scary rash reaction when I tried fenugreek to bolster my supply last month. I figured waiting a while longer was probably safer. Otherwise, she eats EVERYTHING. I have read that I may be feeding her too many solids, but she will refuse to nurse, and then nom an entire jar of puree, so I have kind of just been going with it.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? I think we are inadvertently on the path to weaning, but I have no intention of completing the process any time soon. I am not ready! And neither is she. I wont push her either way. I am just happy she eats well.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? My apologies for the novella... I never thought I would be enjoying breastfeeding, but it really is such a special mommy and baby time. As she has demanded less, it hit me how sad I would be when she decided she was done. Meanwhile, I guess I have done a good job getting this far? I know how rough it can be for many women and their babies, and anyone thusly poorly affected, my deepest sympathies. My sister caught me off guard last week by congratulating me, and all I could think was.... wow, it has been 8 months already? Get out! Haha So... congrats, mamas, and I hope we all have and will continue to make the goals we want.

How's breastfeeding going? Good. No complaints really. DS is over his biting and kicking phase. For now at least. How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? 7 m 3weeks (almost). Nursing 5-6 times a day, twice a night and pumping 2x at work. How many solid meals? We are inconsistent but always breakfast and often lunch. DS is sick and on antibiotics- he needs meals before medicine so today is the first real day of 3 scheduled meals. He doesn't love food. Who has started weaning? Any tips? Not yet but my freezer stash is almost gone so it's on my mind. Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? With my low freezer stash I am contemplating giving some formula in the next few weeks. Some days I want to quit and get my body back and some days I want to make it to 12 m. I'm surprised by how much I'm flip flopping on the matter. From the mom who was completely disinterested in BF until I tried!

How's breastfeeding going? It's going well, I've had supply issues in the past so I'm very thankful to have made it this far. How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? LO will be 8 months old tomorrow. He drinks 2-3 pumped bottles while I'm at work and nurses 6-7 times throughout the evening/overnight. How many solid meals? 2 - Lunch and dinner Who has started weaning? Any tips? My goal is 1 year but I will be surprised if my supply keeps up long enough to meet it. Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? Vent - The pinching/tugging while nursing. Why must he try to inflict the most pain possible? It's like a game to him!

How's breastfeeding going? It's been okay. Now that we have a bottom tooth it is painful sometimes. She likes to bite when the milk slows down. I pull her off and cover up and tell her no, but the she thinks it's funny.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? 9months next week. On weekends she eats at 730, 10/11, 130, 430, 7/730 and the about 3/4 am. At work I pump at 9, 12 and 230 then she eats right when we get home at 430. I would love to drop a pump but I am worried because my last two pumps are really down sometimes.
How many solid meals? Some days she likes food food nd some days she just wants milk. I try breakfast and dinner every day. At daycare she always eats 4 oz of food, sometimes 8oz.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? No and no.tips. definitely worried about it tho. she likes her boobies
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? Any tips on helping biting stop are welcome!
How's breastfeeding going? He's still nursing well, but I miss the quiet calm nursing sessions of the past. He's like a kitten now - always pushing on my boob or stretching the nipple out. He's just such a busy guy, he can't seem to be still while doing anything. How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? He nurses at 7, 11, 3, 7 and sometimes overnight, although he's starting to drop that. I also pump at 530 while he has solids so I'll have milk to mix in his cereal. How many solid meals? 3 Who has started weaning? Any tips? I'm hoping to go a year at least. Vents, raves and anything else you want to share?milasmommy2014, my little guy was nibbling a lot a couple of weeks ago. I would take him off once and give him another chance (because he always acts like he's desperate to get back to the boob. When he nibbles the next time, we're done. That seemed to help for a while, but he started up again today. I think he does it more when his gums are bothering him.

How's breastfeeding going?
Fine. Every time I post in the check-in I feel so happy that I'm still able to breastfeed considering everything that I went through in the beginning.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping?
DS is 8 months & 1 week. When I'm at home, I think DS eats approx. 5x a day, with 2-4 hours between feedings (when he first gets up; first nap; second nap; third nap; around 6-7ish). Just today I dropped the right before bed feed because DS had just been biting multiple times during that feed. And he went to sleep with no problem!
When I go into the office, I pump every 4 hours (before I leave, then twice in the office). The thing is, DS doesn't eat much when I'm not home. Yesterday DH said he only had two bottles + a couple oz (so, approx. 12 oz total) for the entire time I was gone. I'm worried that he won't be eating enough on days when I'm not home.
How many solid meals?
2 - lunch and dinner. DS only eats about 1 oz or 1.5 oz of puree each time so he's still primarily on breastmilk.
Who has started weaning? Any tips?
Haven't started, but looking forward to it at 12-months because I'm getting to the point that I kind of want my body back.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share?
jcrewgirl & kittyriot, here are my tips about pumping while at a work conference: (1) Make sure that you are staying at a hotel near where the conference is in case you have to go back to the hotel to pump. The first conference I went to had a "nursing mothers room," but it wasn't a place to pump. (2) Don't even pretend to try to pump for every bottle that your LO has while you're gone. You just need to pump enough to make sure that you don't leak all over the place. (3) Look at your schedule in advance if possible and do what you can to build in pump breaks when you can. If you have some sessions you don't need to go to, consider going back to pump during those times.
ETA: Not sure when we're going to give whole milk because we had the bad reaction to yogurt. And, as I found out from my mom yesterday, apparently I had a rash when she first gave me whole milk so she didn't give it to me again for a year or so (she said to check my baby calendar for the date I first had it again, which I should do right now because we're going to the pediatrician tomorrow morning).
Thanks I will try sitting her down and completely cut her off next time.
How's breastfeeding going? Okay. My left side is hardly producing anything - the clog is still there despite all efforts. I might have to go in and see if an LC can help out. No signs of infection though (know on wood). My right side is compensating so I'm very lopsided now (pumping left = 1 oz and right = 5-6oz)
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? 8.5 months. I pump every 2-3 hours at work, but nurse on demand at home and on my lunch break
How many solid meals? 1-3. Breakfast he gets puffs, only because he loves eating with his cousin. Lunch he gets some food from the jar, but ONLY if he eats a whole bottle first - otherwise he gets a few puffs to play with and then try the bottle again. Dinner, if we aren't exhausted, he gets some food from the pouches or jar and sometimes we'll give him a bit of our food.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? No desire to wean. While I do feel a bit tied down with it, I do love my time with DS. I know it will go by so fast and I'll miss it when it's gone. I'm going to let DS lead the way on weaning, but want to go at least a year.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? Vent: DS went to sleep at 7pm last night - 10 am he woke up because DH got home from a business trip - so we were all up playing until 1am - ugh. Rave: DS is so lovey. He will give me big hugs now and lay his head on my shoulder. He also cuddles family and the cats. I miss him now. Other: I want this stupid clog to GO AWAY!!!!
It's going surprisingly well. I went in thinking I would endure 3 months, then switch to formula because I thought I would be ready to by then. Here we are now though, still going strong.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping?
Kaydence is 5 days from 9 months, and she nurses 4, sometimes 5, times in a 24 hour period. No see schedule, but she typically wakes to nurse in the morning around 6 or 7, then goes back down for an hour or two, or until Camryn comes busting in, loudly asking for her tablet. Then once she's up, we all have breakfast, hers is usually a puree and some cheerios or puffs. Around 11 or 12 she's ready for another nurse and then a nap. She snacks on baby snacks through the afternoon, then nap and nurse around 4 or 5, dinner of puree or whatever we're having, and a nurse before bed, around 9, 9:30. She's STTN, so that's it until the next morning.
How many solid meals?
2, 3, all the meals... now that she knows what food is, she's pretty demanding that we share everything with her.
Who has started weaning? Any tips?
Working to cut out one "snack" nursing before her afternoon nap, but other than that no weaning yet. Probably when we can introduce whole milk. It may just end up being a "don't offer, don't refuse" sort of thing for us.
Pretty much smooth sailing. I'm still prone to plugged ducts but that's just a small complaint.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping?
He will be 9m this week and nurses on demand but pretty predictably 8-9 times a day, only sometimes once overnight.
How many solid meals?
He loves food and eats 3 meals but sometimes I'm lazy and breakfast is just Cheerios. It seems to take an hour to do each meal between him and his sister, and with how frequently he still nurses, I feel like we spend most of the day eating.
Who has started weaning? Any tips?
Not planning on it any time soon unless he decided he's done.
Vents, raves and anything else you want to share?
Boob is his favorite "word" and I think it's what he calls me.
-How's breastfeeding going? Great! -How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? 8 mo, nursing on demand -How many solid meals? 1-2/day, some days none, he's not that into it yet -Who has started weaning? Any tips? No weaning for a while -Vents, raves and anything else you want to share? The teeth are scary. He's drawn blood once, but since then it's been ok...knock on wood...I'm sure there's more pain in my future. :/

How's breastfeeding going? It's going okay still. DS has bottom teeth and sometimes he bites. Sometimes he is distracted, but other times he thinks it is funny. My mother told me an easy way to make him stop is to press his face into your breast and then they release - it works.
How old is LO, how often are you nursing/pumping? DS is 8 months. I have a couple weeks off between jobs. We nurse every 3-4 hours...I think, and through the night.
How many solid meals? I offer purées and bits of whatever I am eating 3 times a day (just started 3 times a day). DS is gagging a little less, but still vomits from gagging sometimes.
Who has started weaning? Any tips? Not weaning. That makes me sad. I think my body will stop before I necessarily want to. I just want to make it a year.
Vents - I loathe the pump. But...reading this thread right now is giving me the encouragement to pump right now instead of just going to sleep!
