Please don't quote, I'm likely to return to delete out some of the more specific details.
Hello everybody, and welcome to all the new posters!
As many of you know, we adopted M from Peru when he was 7 years old. He was raised by his first mom, who we've been trying to contact, but have very little information about and cannot find. He also has at least one older brother whom we've never looked too hard for, but also have never found. M doesn't remember his brother at all
Yesterday, my husband came across M's adoption file and started reading it. On a lark, he started googling M's brother's name and came across a picture of someone that looks exactly like a slightly older version of M. I mean, this picture looks so much like M that I gasped and my stomach flipped when I first saw it. We tracked down this guy's facebook and twitter account, and there are enough simularities that make us think it could very likely be M's brother.
They were born in the same vicinity of one another. He has the same first and last name, and a very close middle name as M's older brother (and M's files had lots of spelling mistakes for names). He seems like he could be about the right age. His hair is identical in texture and color to M's (which is just because they are both Peruvian). Their smile is exactly the same, as is the shape of their eyes and nose. He is facebook friends with a bunch of people who share his second last name (Peruvians often only use one last name, but legally have two).
You guys, this would be amazing if it were true and he were open to talking to us. According to M's file, their relationship may have been turbulent, but there were a lot of mistakes and assumptions in the documents. M doesn't remember him. We are most interested in having a genetic connection and possibly finding M's first mom through him.
I FB messaged him last night, but haven't heard back. I'm hoping he'll contact us, at least to confirm or deny the possibility.
I'm sorry for the word-dump, but this is really hard for me to digest. I don't know what I expected of him, but this (if it is him) shatters all my assumptions and expectations. It's so wild to look at someone and see what M will look like in several years. It really, truly leaves me so unsettled now that I have a picture in mind, knowing he and other relatives are out there and we may never know them.
