Hi, im new to the EP board! Im from March 15, my LO is 6 weeks old and I will be returning to work next week. Currently I both nurse and pump so Im not sure how much my LO truly eats. When I give do give him a bottle his intake ranges from 3 oz to 4.5 oz.
Im wondering if I should do a 2 or 3 day trial run to see how much bm I can pump a day and how much my LO eats. I worry about not packing enough bm or packing too much and then the daycare throwing out the unused milk. I was also thinking this might help me transition into the new routine. Thoughts?
A trial run is probably okay, but I will caution you that how much milk you actually produce when you return to work and how much milk your LO may actually take when starting daycare may vary from this because you will both likely be more stressed when the real day arrives... and your ability to actually pump exactly on schedule at work may not be as easy. I know you don't want to waste milk, but I would rather err on the side of this than not bring enough and have a hungry / upset baby who might be comfort eating. I would think daycare would let you bring home any unused milk from the day anyway.
