White House Greetings Office and other ideas?

I just remembered to put this on my to-do list after baby is born - with DS1, I sent a birth announcement to the White House and they send back a presidential greeting card. Maybe corny, but I thought it was a cool idea for his baby book and to commemorate the year of his birth. 

I also made sure someone purchased a copy of the newspaper on the day he was born. My folks did that and it is fun to look through. 

I know some people get a card from Disney, too... anyone doing anything else different?

Cute ideas! I kept the receipt from the Taco Bell that I ate the night my water broke. Haha! Seriously though, I did.

That's so cool! I wanted to send a wedding announcement to the White House for that but I didn't get around to it. I didn't realise they respond to birth announcements as well. Thanks for sharing. How does one get a card from Disney? Now I want to get a lot of ideas like this!

We got a happy birthday card from our university and announcing DD's class year.

Love the idea to send an announcement to the White House and to get a Newspaper. I'd like to get a good case of 2015 wine or maybe champagne to open on baby's 21st birthday. I have no idea what kind of wine would be good to get or where to get it or how to store it.

We did the wedding thing too and got a wonderful note back! Great idea doing it for the baby as well!

Love the wine idea too! I know nothing of aging wine either so would have to ask about it but it is a fun idea.

I plan to get a newspaper too. I will note down the cost of a few basic items. E.g. Milk, Petrol, KG of apples, movie ticket. Then I also will write down songs playing on top charts. Who is a popular celebrity (kardashians despite me hating them, they are popular), what's a popular TV show (will probably say Big Bang Theory because that's what we like) , the current fad (social media - instagram and facebook and taking selfies and hashtagging everything). I did something like this for when my niece was born and my sister loved it.
I wonder if I write to the Queen of England I would get something back? Love the White House thing.

I'm buying a bottle of booze and then toasting with it at my boy's wedding. My girlfriend's dad did that for his daughters with some Crown Royal and it was so awesome!

The Queen sends messages of congratulations for Diamond (60th), 65th and Platinum (70th) wedding anniversaries and every year thereafter. She also arranges messages for 100th, 105th birthdays and every year thereafter.

I like this. The Queen's not bothering herself with mediocrity. She only sends congratulations when people have well and truly earned it.
