Spring/Summer Maternity Clothes at Work

I have a bunch of summer maternity dresses from my first pregnancy, some are more casual and some are more formal. I did go out and buy capri pants for casual Friday so I wouldn't have to wear long jeans and a few more summery tops that cover the shoulders and aren't too casual. When I was really huge at the end of my first pregnancy I wore dresses almost all the time, but I really don't see myself doing that this time.

I am too short to wear maxi dresses without hemming them, but as long as they don't look like you just walked off the beach I don't see why not.

I bought two maxi dresses online at Old Navy on Monday morning and got them in my mailbox last night! Free express shipping! Needless to say, I have deemed maxis with cardigan appropriate office attire.

Maxi dresses are tough to pull off as professional enough in my work environment. I'm mainly sticking with pencil skirts (maternity), tops and cardis at the moment. I'm definitely reaching the point of "eff pants" in pregnancy, though.

I think with a sweater, closed toed shoes, and a nice necklace, maxi dresses are just fine. I will probably buy one myself and wear it for work that way.

Pencil skirts don't sound very comfortable, even maternity ones.  Are they?

I wear pajamas or my robe to work. On Wednesdays I put on real clothes and take my bump pic.



At my previous employer, maxi dresses and flip flops would be appropriate attire. I work in advertising though, so it is a pretty laid back environment, unless you have a meeting with a client.

With DD I had a couple of flowy skirts that I would wear with a cardigan. I also had a couple pairs of work capris that I found and I would wear a pair of ballet flats. Some days I wore flip flops or fancy sandals.

Maxi dresses with cardigans have always been a big YAY in my work attire. I work in healthcare accounting/billing. Our only "rules" are no jeans, no bare shoulders (hence the cardigans) and no flip flops. So bring on the maxi dresses all day long.

Ok so all pregnant women seem to love the maxi dresses. My question - what about those of us with chunky legs that rub together as you walk? That doesn't sound very fun at all. Any way to avoid this while wearing a maxi dress?
Also I don't normally wear maxi dresses because I'm so short, but I'm hoping my bump is large enough to help lift it up a few more inches.

I like them. They have the big belly panel, and of course are less constricting than pants. Dumb pants. Whoever thought of that idea?

In the program I teach in we spend a lot of time on the floor presenting activities so it's super casual. I've been living in my maternity jeans with cute tops.

Go with the maxi dresses, girl! And maxi skirts too. Whatever you can do to look and feel cute/comfortable. I LOVE mine and can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can break them out full-force. We've had one or two days where it got into the 60's lately and I didn't even hesitate to wear a maxi dress to work. Like others have said, with a cardigan and cute shoes, it's adorable and seriously...who doesn't love a pregnant lady in a maxi dress? People constantly tell me how cute I look when I wear them. All-around win

My friend taught me that if you're feeling rubby, the secret is bike shorts or spanx under, but there probably isn't a maternity equivalent, is there?

In addition to maxi skirts, I am going to be wearing printed, wide leg "PJ pants." I embraced the trend wholeheartedly a couple of years ago and am glad now, because I can wear them under belly. (Some have an elastic waist and others are drawstring.) I also work in a casual office though (and only in office 2x/wk.) I agree that everything looks fancier with a nice necklace!

I love maxi dresses but I never find them for petite! They are all way too long for me my boss is me, so at least I can wear whatever I want, but I'm seeing clients so I stay presentable but it can go from jeans to business attire to pretty dresses depending on my mood. I have been known to call a pajama day once or twice a year. I do skin care, waxing, and reiki treatments/teaching so it's pretty flexible what is practical to wear.

I don't wear Maxi dresses because hey never fit because I'm super short, but I wear other dresses, and skirts and have super thick thighs. When it's too hot to wear spanx under them (which is usually for me) what works is spray deodorant! Just spray some on your legs where they are going to rub and let it dry. If im going to be walking around a lot I cardy some in my purse just incase they start to chaif again.

I have a really comfy maxi dress that I got last year from Old Navy..its not Maternity but Im planning on wearing it with a cardigan and calling it a day!

I am over pants/tee/cardigan uniform I have been wearing for 5 months so I finally broke out my dresses today! Maxi dresses are a bit causal for my office but I seem to get a pass while pregnancy.  They have let me wear sneakers to work too when my feet were super swollen last pregnancy.  

I am wearing this dress today with a blazer and flats to dress it up.

They make maternity spanx and I am wearing it right now! Not only don't I feel my thighs rubbing together but it makes you look pretty damn good from the back!

Lady Anti Monkey Butt is great for swighs (sweaty thighs rubbing together) during pregnancy. You can buy it at hardware stores or online. Plus it's fun to say.

I have a few of the Old Navy cigarette pants in black and I wear those to work a lot. It's software, so it's pretty casual. I'm going to try the maxi dress even though I've never thought I looked good in them (big hips, I feel like maxi dresses cling in all the wrong spots). I do have a few other comfy dresses that are knee length that I wear.

Now that it's April, our winter weather is finally showing up. We might get rain on Sunday and a high of 60 today (vs 80 last week). Oh Bay Area weather you crazy thing!

Ha, yes it IS strapless, but you can totally wear it with a shrug or jean jacket and get away with a regular bra;) I originally bought the dress with the intention of being able to wear it post baby too, so I liked the ease of the strapless:)

So I just wore my first dress today (while pregnant), and I thought I was going to die. I started out feeling so comfy and free, but the lack of any support whatsoever from pants was KILLING ME!!! Plus, I had several people telling me I looked like I dropped (already, wtf?) and it surely felt like it. The pressure in my pelvis and groin hurt so so so much. So yeah, my experience sucked!

Either way. I wear it over underwear because I use a belly brace, so these work nicely on top of that to conceal the brace, but I don't have to take the brace off every time I pee hope that makes sense.

The brace has been helping me with general discomfort and pain in general. I'm super grateful for my doc suggesting it and for my husband insisting I actually wear it. I don't wear it every day though, and as it gets hotter and hotter, I may be singing a different tune!

I'm doing great! I've been trying to pop in on here more, but work has been piling up since the new year, and it's taken my a while to feel things out over here, frankly. Andplusalso, with the security breach thing over at TB, it's made me super overly cautious with what I feel like sharing anymore. Maybe that's why there's such a disconnect for me here. It's good to see you here too! I feel like we all got so close and then...boom, it was over!
