Use my moby a lot right now (while she's small), it will get to hot soon. Also have a tula which is lighter and cooler.

Woven wraps are defiantly cooler but not extremely. I wear a lightweight shirt and put DD in a onsie to keep us both cool. She's a little oven so at times there is no helping being too hot.

Oh and I got a linen ring sling on etsy-i figured the linen would be a little cooler and ring sling can be good for quick up and down.

As far as putting her back in the car seat, she does get a little fussy but I think that gas more to do with it taking me a few minutes to get her situated.

My sister's MIL (who is also an old family friend longer than I have been alive) thinks TBT stands for tossback Thursday and now I have an older cousin of my dad's who is doing flashback Thursday.

mels823 babywearing is super uncommon here, and I don't know any moms who do, but I always get compliments when I wear DS in public, usually something like "that's a pretty cool contraption!"

I've got a chimparoo wrap and a ring sling.

The wrap is great and I use it on walks, including fitness walks. DH also takes him in the wrap on the weekends. I tie it at the destination and just slip him in and out quickly.

The ring sling I've used more for around the house or for light walking/socializing.

I'm pretty much a fan.

I have a hand me down ergo and do not use the infant insert. But to be fair I have large boobs so I don't know if we really could use it and have room. Try it without and see if you need be extra support.

badw0lf I'm sure you've already perused YouTube for k'tan help, but if you didn't find this video I super recommend it. She puts the carrier on slightly differently than the k'tan instructions & has lots of tips. youtu.be/13g-KtS5VVA

I had the same two and didn't like either in the end. Can you return the Ktan still? Honestly, your little man is probably going to be too heavy for it in the near future. I returned the Ktan to BRU for a Boba which I liked much better. I also had an Ergo gifted to me but I didn't like it so I got the Lillebaby yesterday. Can't wait to use it. I've been lazy at trying it out today though. Lol.

That k'tan video is super helpful! I need to try it that way. I agree that the ergo is a little wide for my stature but I still like it a lot. I want a ring sling for mothers day

badw0lf does your ergo have a sleeping/nursing hood? I've put it up while wearing DD and eating. It only got a little bit of food on the hood ;-)

I have an ergo carrier that I use all the time with the infant insert. It makes going out with DS and DD manageable. But i agree it does get warm. I only used a baby bjorn with DS, and it's lighter, but harder on your back than the ergo.

I kinda want a ring sling, because it looks like it would be easier to nurse in, and quick to put on. I looked at some mesh water baby carriers after reading this thread, and they look pretty sweet for the summer. Now I want all the baby carriers!

I have a baby bjotn that I got at a consignment sale for $12. It wasn't my choice for a carrier, but I'm too cheap to buy something else when it works for us. I don't think I will be able to use it for much longer because NC summers are hot and humid, so I may have to splurge on a lighter weight carrier soon.

As for the transfer, it does get easier as you get more comfortable with the carrier but it is never eliminated. The baby is going to be jostled and probably wake up in the transfer.

I wore him in the moby yesterday and moved the car seat out and over to strap him in. I then put the seat back in the base. This was a lot better than leaning way over to the middle seat.

I have an ergo, that I use daily. If I plan on driving, I usually put her in her car seat first then wear her, then flop her back her car seat, when she's completely passed out. She generally falls asleep rt away when I wear her. Baby wearing has seriously saved me!

That ring sling is gorgeous! I had a hard time deciding between a ring sling or a woven wrap & ended up going with a woven. So I'm even more jealous of this RS!

badw0lf babycfeb2015 another thing I remembered as I was putting DS in the k'tan today: if the tails of the sash are all bunched up, they dig and hurt my back. Much more comfortable if I keep them as spread out as possible when tying. To do this when I'm alone I keep a lot of tension & wrap all the way around & tie in front (which you may or may not have enough material to do depending on your body).

I love my ergo baby carrier !!! It feels so natural to wear the baby!! Must be what my ancestors did!!! Not a huge fan of the insert because baby gets hot but it's not really a problem!

I have a moby and an ergo-style carrier from target (Eddie Bauer carrier my sister gave me). DS is so big that he doesn't really fit in the infant part, but doesn't have the head control to not use it.

When should you move from the newborn hug hold to regular hug hold with the moby? DS seems like he might be better supported in the regular hug hold. I've worn the moby out once, but I'm still learning with it and afraid DS is going to slip out.

I've been wearing DS legs out (regular hug hold) in the K'tan since week 2 when he hit 8 lb. He never liked being wrapped legs in (newborn hug). Just have to be careful you don't have the seat too wide so his legs are too spread out - the video I posted above talks about it. I know a moby is a little different but it & the k'tan are both stretchy so the support should be similar.

I have a boba and love it. If I'm going somewhere where we will be out for a while, I will wear her (like the zoo or park). If it's a quick trip, I will leave her in her car seat. I had the same question about tying it at home because it was a pain to tie it in the parking lot. I tie in the parking lot now. I gather up the long end and loop them and tie them in loose knots. That way, the ends are not on the floor and untie them as I continue to "wrap" myself in it. I hope this makes sense..

I will probably switch holds then. He gets upset that his legs are squished and he's already 15lbs. 

I like the look of the ring sling. I'm hoping to go to a babywearing meetup soon and try one.
