I wore DH in the moby wrap today in Target. I really liked having the cart and my hands free. I have two questions though:
1. For those who use wraps, do you get it tied before you leave the house? I was wrapping it in the parking lot and luckily it wasn't raining, but the ends were all over the ground.
2. How do you easily transition baby from the comfy cocoon to the car seat? He did fall back asleep quickly, but it killed me to be jostling him, waking him up. I assume the answer is "practice".
I havnt taken him out in the Moby but that issue is one of the reasons. I generally use it around the house and have the ergo for outside the house. No clue on #2.

I'll be glad when he's big enough for a ssc. Which I need to get. Do you like the ergo? That's what I'm leaning towards, but most of the local baby wearers are all about the tula.

I do like the ergo. I got the infant insert which I don't like but ds is big enough that I can just use the pillow part of it to boost him a bit. I havnt tried any other type though so I don't have a basis of comparison.

I use a Boba wrap and we love it! I do wrap up before leaving the house and just pop him in once we arrive. As for the other issue, there's really no escaping it. I think they get used to it the more you use it. He would get a little upset, but he would calm down quickly so it was no big deal overall.
2. DD is normally fine with the transition b/t wrap & carseat. Sometimes, she's warm/comfy in the wrap then screams when I put her in the carseat. Driving tends to calm her quickly.
I use the ergo wrap. Both DD and I love it! I have an ergo carrier as well but I'm not very fond of the infant insert and just find the wrap easier to use.
We don't have a car, so no advice there, I'm afraid. I'd probably tie it before leaving home just for convenience (unless it's a long drive) but there's no getting past the awkward moment of transition. I guess the more you practice, the less LO will notice.
I also need recommendations for the hot summer weather. I don't think the moby will be good in our 200% humidity. Are woven wraps better?
I need to check out when my local group is meeting up again.
That's my understanding but I'm new to babywearing. I know the Lillebaby Airflow is supposed to be good but I got the all seasons as mentioned above but haven't tried it yet.

I actually used a Pinterest tutorial to make my own moby type wrap. It works great and was super easy to make. DS loves it! I've worn it out quite a bit. I really liked wearing it to church the past two Sundays. He slept the entire time and it helped ward off unwanted fondling of the baby. I like to tie it before I leave.
I also have an ergo. I like it a lot too. I think it will be really great once DS is a little bigger, for now in just using a rolled up blanket to give him a boost.
I've got an Infantino Flip that was given to me. It's not bad. I think it'll be better when he's a little older and has more upper body control though. It's not very supportive so unless I'm just walking, he tends to flop around a bit so when I'm doing housework I have to hold him with one hand. I really want a ring sling, but the ones I always end up liking are super expensive
I use the ergo. I feel like I might be too petite for it, the shoulder straps tend to slide off, end up having too much room for LO's head to flop to one side uncomfortably.
I have a Moby and a Lillebaby. If I'm using the Moby when we're out, usually I'll tie it before leaving. If not, I just stand next to the car while I tie it and keep the ends in the car instead of on the ground. I find the Lillebaby to be easier to use when we're out though.
As for the transfer issue, it's a combination of practice and the baby getting used to it. DD doesn't love being moved from the carrier to the carseat but she tends to go back to sleep pretty quickly if she was sleeping in the carrier.

I know there is and ergo that is pretty breathable. I think the performance version. Also, at my baby wearing group they had some carriers that were meant to be worn in the water. They were made out of mesh. I forget what type but you could Google water wraps or water baby carry to find.
I've only worn my Boba around the house and had the same questions as you! I've been reluctant to wear it out also because DS sleeps so well in his car seat and stroller. I don't want to disturb him by taking him out of the car seat to get into the wrap. Hmm. Maybe I'll try it Friday when I go to the grocery store.
Wearing him while shopping was great! We usually end up putting everything in the bottom shelf of the cart, or need a second cart.
flyster How big is your little one? We have an ergo that I'm excited to use, but I know dd won't tolerate being wrapped in the infant insert. She has pretty decent head control (6w6d) but not great. I may try just the pillow if she's big enough for that.

osumegs we use a rolled blanket with our ergo and he is 7 wks 11 lbs. works great. I have the 360 and you can prop the back piece up for more neck support
Yes! I have worn Dore than I actually thought I would. I have started wearing her for quick trips into stores and such and even wore her for our trip to TX. It was really nice not having to worry about a car seat and/or stroller in the airport.
I have a jj Cole (it's like the k'tan I believe) carrier.
My brother also gave me a baby bjorn and a chicco infant carrier while in TX so I have a few more options to play with. I think the 2 new ones will be better for hiking and H will like better which is nice.

Awesome! I'll try that this weekend. She's a stubborn one with her preferences, but this she might love!
I really like my Boba 4G ssc. The infant insert comes standard with the carrier, which was a huge bonus, along with a detachable hood and stirrups for when LO is bigger. I've worn her in that while at the grocery store a few times.
I'm too scared to baby wear in public... I'm not sure why?? My husband thinks the wrap looks funny on me because I'm so petite so maybe that has something to do with it? I also don't know any baby wearers! I wear her around the house in the Boba and she likes it for a while but after 10 or so minutes she starts fussing. I really want it to work though!
Like a lot have said wrap at home then pop baby in or my babywearing group suggests putting the tails in your pockets.
I have a tula with the infant insert and love it-and so does dd. I do feel like it is a little easier to have on the go to not worry about taking the time to wrap. I just ordered another so I am warning you, tula can be a rabbit hole
As far as being cool, I believe Kinderpacks are also good for hot weather but hard to get your hands on one. There are also something called Frog Togs that baby wears to keep them cool. I have seen where people have put those gel packs you can cool between themselves and baby.
I have a couple of wovens (another rabbit hole) but haven't broken them in yet or used them that much-dd got pissed the last time I put her in one

I've only used the baby bjorn while I'm out and I love being able to have my hands free and the entire cart available. Plus baby is always super calm. I put him in it while we went to the mall and he actually was awake and alert, looking around the whole time.
I have only use the boba wrap at home because I'm not comfortable wrapping it yet! But I also have a sling I'm using right now that's easier now he's bigger.
As for the transfer, I make sure I am ready to go before unstrapping him and putting him in and he usually calms down quick. It is an awkward transition though that I usually do in the backseat of the car.
I'd also like recommendations for something in hot weather? I can't imagine anything being comfortable and not hot and sweaty
