Hi, I am byjove and I am nursing a 20 month old (tomorrow). She will just not give it up, but we night weaned a couple of months ago, thank god! I feel like my nips are more sensitive just rubbing against clothing than during nursing so far, but DD likes to nurse for 30 minutes at a time and after 5 I want to be done. Hoping the girlfriends don't get any bigger this time. I've read that 2/3 babies wean on their own when the ir mom is pregnant. I was hoping we'd make it to 2, but idk, if she just wanted to give it up I think I'd be ok with that. I am not sure how I feel about tandem nursing.

Bonus: some things are eerily familiar. Some things seem to be bothering me much earlier on.

I'm nursing my 20 mo old as well. I've noticed a little more sensitivity when nursing, but not a ton. He basically nurses 3X a day still, morning, nap, and night. I would be glad to make it to 2, and would love it if he weaned. I'm not looking forward to refusing... He really likes his milk. But I'm not sure I have it in me to tandem nurse...

Bonus: I feel like I'm so early that its hard to tell anything yet... I had a very easy pregnancy with DS, but my next one ended in a loss. So I would welcome a few symptoms this time (although I know they mean nothing!)

byjove I was actually A13 but he came 2 weeks early. Did you go a little late? Did we swap months?

Yes, I think we did. I had a later July due date and DD came late

byjove Haha yup, I was 8/5 and he came 7/24. I would mind that same timing this time around. He was 8lbs already. Very fully cooked.

Hi, I'm Lori! I'm nursing my 21 mo old. So far it's going the same as always. My boobs are a little tender sometimes but nothing I can't handle.

Right now I feel like if he's weans, he weans, if he doesn't then he doesn't. I would love to make it to 2 and I don't think he's ready to wean at all. He still nurses a lot. I think I need to night wean asap, though. We bedshare so that might be difficult. Oy.

It hasn't been similar at all. I had implantation bleeding and lots of crampy-ness the first time. Hardly any cramps in the last week this time. But I've been more nauseous than I was at this point with my first.

HelgaHuffle, night weaning is definitely not an easy task. We were essentially bed sharing at that point, but got her transitioned back to her bed (albeit that is in our room too, until we move). It was the good fight though, and worth it.

How will bed sharing work when the new LO arrives? DD still comes in our bed at 4/5 am and I don't think we'll be able to do that if the new LO is in bed nursing, etc.

I've been worrying about the logistics of that as well. F has never slept on his own so that would be a huge transition for him. I have no plan at this point but I probably should get him night weaned and in his own space at least part of the night. I don't know if I have the energy for that lol.

I really hope that the new little one will like sleeping in his or her own space.

C comes to bed in the am too, usually around 5. We're up from that point on 95% of the time, but at least I can lay down while he nurses for a while...
HelgaHuffle, One of my best friends is still bed sharing with her 23mo (with no plans to stop) and recently night weaned. They started enforcing a "no milk in bed" rule. For a couple nights he really insisted so she had to take him to the couch, but then he just realized he preferred sleep? She said it was a million times less painful than she was expecting... Every kiddo is different though! Good luck!!
