What got me thinking was today's Easter adventure. We were on a hay ride returning from an egg hunt. All the kids had their baskets and this one girl, maybe 5 was so excited that her mom said she could have one piece of candy on the way back to the farm. I was admittedly jealous as she pulled out an orange Pixy Stix (love orange). I was going to ask my guy to share his when we got home. :cp I felt a little bad for her though as she tore the paper end off and started to dump the sugary gold into her mouth. As she tipped the end up, she misjudged the wind. Her face turned to an expression of bewildered frustration and anger as the entire thing just blew against her face. Her eyes shut tight to keep the grittiness out. It was like in slow motion, but she never once stopped pouring. I don't think she ate any of it. Poor thing.
FFSC: I felt bad for her, but I was also a little pissed she wasted that orange sugary sweetness. Why not a lessor flavor like grape? Or Cherry?
Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. This amazing stranger from the planet Krypton. The Man of Steel, Superman!
Damn those bring me back. I used to hit up Margies. She ran this little grocery straight out of the 50's. My God the "penny candy". Granted it was a steep 2cents in the 90s . My buddy Phil and I lived off fruit tootsies for an entire summer. Those and bottle caps. I think I was the only person that liked the root beer ones...which meant I ate a ton of them. And banana runts.

I still love "old school" candy! Sixlets and pixie sticks are what come to mind at the moment, but whenever I find something really old school and nostalgic I have to stop and get it!
