Ok so far... she has told us about her hernia, asked for more shirts, given me a bag of trash , and I haven't looked in T's basket yet, but it looks like there are adult sunglasses, a dog toy, and jellybeans
DH was just holding T upside down and she said something about how he better not drop him. She read about how some mom dropped her kid on their head and killed them.
Eta another: she's telling me how someone could easily break in our house and steal T in the middle of the night because when we are asleep we won't hear it over the monitor. Wtf? And how we would never know who took him since our monitor doesn't record. So T would just be taken and gone.

They're expensive, handmade baskets that people go nuts over. They're collectible and I think they're made in Ohio. My mom has a ton of them. You should be able to tell on the bottom of the basket.
I swear if she told FIL to dip his pork chop in her BBQ sauce one more time I was going to flip...
I'm headed home... the restaurant was so loud I couldn't hear most of her non sense. However I found out she doesn't know the difference between credit and debit cards so she just says "the one without the pin number I don't know mine" and when I said ok so you use credit then, and you need to pay that back at the end of the month she acted like she had no clue what I was talking about. And also, "who can remember pin numbers to 15 cards?"

Oh Jesus. How far in debt is she?
As someone without debt, I'm having a fucking panic attack over this.
It's been a question we have all asked... she buys and buys with no thought at all. We call it magic money because we think she believes it literally grows from the ground on the farm.

OMG my mom warns me about this eleventy times a week. Are they in cahoots?
Omg I'm sorry you have to hear this repeatedly. This is my greatest fear. And why I had a really hard time when he wasn't in our room anymore. I've never told her that the thought of this happening scares me to death ( I've watched too many lifetime movies)

What happens in the event of her death? Do those debts disappear? Who pays them?
It depends on the type of debt. Credit disappears, but things like a mortgage or car get passed to next of kin.

I'm hoping it's not us FIL is an old school farmer who doesn't even have have a credit card... So I'm not sure he has a fclue what kind of debt she may be in...
I worked for an estate attorney once upon a time. if she has any assets in her name then her estate (property, checking account) is responsible for her debts. If her assets are jointly owned than this is exempt. If she has no assets then no one is responsible for her debt.

Well.. this is where part of the problem lies... if she out lives FIL she will gain control of everything.... so, in the end the farm would be taken to pay off her debt...

"All those people just from eating ham?!" A quote from my cousin talking to her mom who is a nurse. I just thought of NMG. Hopefully it wasn't her ham..
