My DD is 15 mo and reading is definitely her favorite activity right now. She loves all of her books, but right now her favorites are Goodnight Moon and Little Blue Truck. I'm currently trying to compile a list of some other great books to buy for her as she gets older. What are currently your LOs favorite books?
Have you tried MO Willems Gerald and piggie series? My husband and I love reading them to our daughter and they were recommended to me by a teacher friend.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear is awesome. Bear About Town is one of my kids' favorites. They also love love Hungry Bunny. I hate reading that one, but they love it, so I do it...over and over and over and...sigh.
DS is still pretty little, but I like to read Berenstain Bears books and Little Critter books to him. I like that they have more of a story going on. They keep me interested too.

DS loved, and still loves, any 'interactive' books. So any touch and feel/life the flap/etc type stuff. We have one 'Good Morning, Good Night' that's been one of his favorites for at least a year now; although, it's a paper book so I'm surprised it's still intact.
We rarely buy books now though, we have a good, varied collection, and I check out a ton for him every week or two from the library. Free, and if he isn't interested, then no harm no foul.
Dr. Seuss books, Eric Carle books, Curious George books, some of the Little Golden books (we have all classic ones, so I don't know about the others), Clifford the Big Red Dog, a few different ones that are about construction equipment, 10 Little Ladybugs, ... He has a lot of favorites.
jensriot Why don't you like the Hungry Bunny book? I've never read it, so I'm curious. We have a couple of books that we got from Dolly Partons Imagination library that I don't like. One was Good Night Moon...I thought it was boring since the zoo keeper is just saying good night to everyone, and the other was The Little Engine That Could...it is too long. I read it to S a few times and skipped a few pages to shorten it.
We love the 5 minutes bedtime stories. It is all the classics like Hansel and Gretal, Three Billy Goats Gruff, and Little Red Riding Hood. We have only been able to find them at Walmart though.

Karma Wilson (the Bear books) is great. Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. The whole "That's not my..." Touchy feely books. I love all of Mem Fox's books too. The little Llama Llama board books are great a that age, or even the longer ones if they'll sit through them. Sheep in a Jeep series by Fiona Shaw. I love children's lit.

I will second The Napping House and Chicca Chicca Boom Boom. We are currently reading a lot of the little golden books. Her favorites are Nurse Nancy, Doctor Dan, and Daddies.

Ds is 11 months. He loves any flip flap books. Anything by the lady who does where is baby's belly button. He got a couple sound and feel books about trucks that he likes. He likes moo baa la la la. A L O T. I read it 5 times a day.
Off topic, but I just discovered "Go the F to Sleep". If you're immature like me it's hilarious. There's a narration of the book on youtube if anyone is interested.

Oh, I like the book, reading it is just annoying. You end up listing foods for a while. It's great for shapes, colors and counting though, so I read on. Fun note, my 6.5 year old can read most of it now, so soon I will be free!

Hmmm... In that case, I might have to look at it next time we're at the book store. I need something good for shapes.
Also, has anyone else noticed that most classic fairy tales are actually pretty terrible? We have several collections, and hubby and I are always like WTF after we read one.

For me the nursery rhymes are creepy, or rather odd. I am sure that "Hickety, pickety my black hen" is actually about prostitution.
