Hi everybody,
My first ultrasound was today! I'm 5weeks,6days. I guess it's fairly standard protocol when doing IVF to have an ultrasound at 6 weeks, and at 8weeks with your reproductive endocrinologist, and again at 10weeks with an OB. I wasn't expecting much for today, but little bean is measuring just the right size and we even saw a tiny flicker of a heartbeat! DH was with me, but it still doesn't seem real to us. I guess it's a little more real to me than it is to DH because I'm experiencing the body changes.
Speaking of symptoms, it looks like I have Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome (OHSS) which happens sometimes when you're overstimulated with medications for IVF. My ovaries on both sides are pretty huge with the left side being twice the size they are supposed to be. It's kind of scary because it can cause some severe medical issues, but at least I know for sure the reason behind my cramping and what to do if I experience it more often (call doctor, go to ER).
I go back next Friday for the 8 week ultrasound. I'm still SO NERVOUS, but every day and every appointment gives me more hope.
