NTTCR - Interesting counter article on "toxins"

Now, I AM a believer in they put too much extra "crap" in our foods and antibotics in chicken and medicine in our water supply may be causing issues.  But... I'm also a believer in everything can be taken to an extreme- both ways.  Anyone who's seen a McDonald's french fry in the car that escaped cleaning for months and seems to have no ill effects has to think about whether those should really be consumed (and yes... I do it anyway on occasion- fresh of course).  I also have an open mind though, and here is the counterpoint.  Enjoy, debate, or just go hmmm..... like I did....

I think there's way too much extra 'stuff' in foods too, but I'm not a fan of Food Babe. The level of pseudoscience in her arguments drives me nuts. I think everything in moderation is the key.

A friend of mine posted this comic over the weekend and it reminded me of all the people who get upset about "chemicals" and "organics" without really understanding how science works....

lennonkdc, I love that cartoon. I have to share it with DH. He'll laugh. SIL says her kids are "sensitive to sugar and caffeine".... I'm like um, yeah, all kids are. So are adults, why do you think some of us drink coffee? LOL (

PS, I drink decaf now but I am a big morning coffee drinker, and yes, I know decaf still has some caffeine in it)

I must be living under a rock because I've never heard of the Food Babe... but then again I ignore most of that stuff anyway. I'm a firm believer that moderation is the key... and yes I absolutely will be vaccinating my kid.

I eye roll so hard when people pull the 'sensitivity' card. I want to tell them I have a tequila sensitivity, and it leads to very poor life choices lol


I'm too skeptical/logical to be all "crunchy", I do have "crispy" tendencies: I prefer to buy local, and sustainable when possible but I'm not militant by any means. I do try to cut out extra sources of sugar- like pre made salad dressings and marinades, or flavored yogurts.

One thing I dislike about the Internet is that anyone can spew out a bunch of bullshit and it only takes a few followers sharing the BS before it gets out of control because everyone starts believing it
