Congratulations on your addition to your family! Alaina was so excited to share your news!

Alaina has been working with a peer in our class. She is an amazing role model for him and they are both excited to go a little early to P.E. for some extra sensory work. You are blessed with a very special little girl!

Yeah, a girl who, on April Fool's Day, told her Kindergarten teacher that we adopted a 4 year old boy named Michael and never told her that she was kidding! As soon as I read the note, I immediately had a talk with Lainey about that's not something you joke about, and then emailed her teacher to explain that it was not true and that I expected Lainey to apologize to her. Lainey felt badly about it and said she couldn't think of any other April Fool's Day jokes to tell her teacher. I really hope she does apologize, and I'm sure she'll never tell a "joke" like that again!

It was such a lovely note, that I felt bad having to tell her that we didn't really adopt a child! I'm sure she believed it because she knows our plans and filled out some education reference documents for us. She said Lainey was very convincing and was so excited about her new brother.

I need to get that kid into acting classes. Oy! LOL

When my brother was about 7 we were waiting for my father to get orders for where we would move next - our parents had told us many times that we would be moving pretty soon, and we weren't sure what country it would be.  After several weeks of this, my mother heard from my brother's teacher that our new post sounded fascinating, and she was so glad that we were learning French, even though my brother informed her that they really only speak a DIALECT of French in that country.  He gave her the name of the (fake) country, described the animals, etc.  I really don't think he was lying, or maybe he knew he was lying, but didn't necessarily think of it that way - we had this exciting thing that was going to happen in the next few months, but he couldn't start looking at pictures or finding out information about it, so he made it up. 
Anyway, my brother is and was a VERY creative and smart kid...  Creative, smart kids will fill in details if given the chance!

LOL! Your daughter sounds like she has a pretty great imagination but may need some more time to figure out how the whole April Fools thing works.

On the other hand, sounds like she has an awesome teacher! She has probably seen similar things from other kids too so don't feel too bad about having to tell her you haven't adopted yet. My kids tell me stuff all the time and its usually easier to just humor them than try to sort out real from fake.

Honestly, I could totally see my kid doing this. He's a known story teller at this point, so IDK that he'd be believed, but I can certainly see him trying. I'm glad that it wasn't a big deal in the end, though.

This is kind of the kid equivalent of the "we're pregnant" April Fool's Day announcement. Poor kid probably feels terrible about what she thought was a fairly grown-up joke.

She apologized to her teacher yesterday. It's all good. Her teacher is a total sweetheart and thought it was hilarious.
