I saw a mom post on "the other site" about measuring small and figured I'd make a post. I wanted to last week but it was amid all the shit hitting the fan and felt it wasn't the right time. Plus I've just had a hard time just processing it.
At the NT scan LO was measuring a few days behind, nbd really. I think it was by like 5-8 days. Then at the anatomy scan at 18 weeks he was about the same.
On Thursday I went back for a consult with the new OB since I basically fired mine for being a dick, and they wanted to get more shots of his heart and LO was measuring at 18w6days and I was 21w6d. The U.S. Tech mentioned something about an elevated artery ratio. I know she wasn't supposed to especially when I asked her what it was and she told me to check with the dr.
Baby is measuring in the 3rd percentile and now they want me back on the 5th for more blood flow studies. I have no idea what any of this means and the dr is giving me the old let's watch and see approach. I feel like they are trying to hold out on telling me how serious it is but thanks to google and the net in general I DO know how serious it is. And despite the try not to worries and positive outcomes I've read.. I can't help but brace for any number of possibilities Mentally.
Anyone else past/present dealing with this and want to share?
No advice for the blood flow but DD always measured small and so is this baby. 3rd percentile at 19+ weeks and up to 11th at 23 weeks. And my belly routinely measures 3 weeks behind. I go for extra US to keep track of growth but it's really just been determined that I grow small babies. Fingers crossed everything is ok.

moxy I am having similar issues. At my last appointment my doctor scheduled me for an ultrasound to check for SGA/IUGR. At my anatomy scan 6 weeks ago everything was measuring on time. However at this appointment he said I should have gained more weight and have a larger fundus measurement. My ultrasound is in two weeks I should know more then.
Im 22W3D now. No chance the dates could be off since DH and I only had sex 2x 2 days apart in August.
Dr ran a whole bunch of blood work. I am Vitamin D deficient and high on folate. Not sure if those matter for what's going on. I haven't gained but 2lbs the whole pg. with the ms I had I went from 220 to 195 by week 13. I normally don't share that and I hope yall don't mind. I'm in no way Bragging.
I'm more concerned that the borderline blood flow could be the real culprit. Everything else measured ok as far as cervix length, and Amniotic fluid.. And baby is proportionate so that's a plus.
LO is baby #4 and none of the others ever measured like this.
Here I am! I just found out that I am measuring 3 weeks behind today. They didn't specifically say IUGR yet, but I suspect that may be the case. I go in next week to check the growth again. I am so sorry that you are dealing with this too. Do you by any chance have placenta previa? I didn't know if there is a correlation to IUGR but I also have a previa. T+P that everything turns out OK for us.
No experience here but, FX everything turns out okay for everyone! Try to stay away from Google and if you can't just search for "success stories". (hugs)

No previa but it is anterior. That's interesting that you mention though. My mom had me early due to placenta previa and I was very small. Based on what she's told me it's likely it could have been iugr. This was waaaay before regular ultrasounds.. 36 yrs ago. They had actually suggested she drink mogandavid (I prob grossly misspelled that) and had her in a high fat diet of peanut butter and snickers as she tells it.
I'm glad you came over. lauracox3 I hate that your going through this too but at least we're not alone.
moxy I was wondering about changing my diet. I know it's unlikely to fix things. However, I will be downing water like crazy and eating a high fat and high protein diet until next week's ultrasound. Anything to put some weight on my little one. Ugh. So stressful.
The nurse actually suggested to me to drink a shake 1x a day. I have the lapband so it's a short term solution until I can get an unfill (whole nother story)
I'll take down 12 shakes a day if it means he grows

Adding extra protein to your diet can't hurt, but if it's a blood flow problem that won't help.
That's what my OB suggested too! Protein shakes....I went with Nestle Boost chocolate. Much better tasting than ensure IMO.
Check out what I wrote on LauraCox's thread as well, but I also had an IUGR baby. He did come out a little early, late term preemie. He was born at 35 weeks and 6 days weighing in at 5.9 lbs. He did drop weight when he came out, they usually do at first, but he had no trouble fattening up on my breast milk!
Keep your head up, I'll keep you in my thoughts. Good luck with everything.

Agreed. I think in my case they are trying to rule out nutrition while we wait for the blood flow studies. They also put me on low dose aspirin which I find odd.
Goal is I go back on 2/5 and they are like whoa! Holy growth spurt!
I've read a lot of great outcomes, but I have a deep fear that I'll go on the 5th and the borderline blood flow will turn into dangerously restricted. Because of the anterior placenta I rarely feel him move and the past few days I could really use that reassurance.
Sorry you are going through this.. Praying for you! Our dd1 measured small the whole time in my belly (about 4%) and she has stayed small since then (1st percent for height and weight). She's very healthy just a petite little one. Hope that's the same case for you!

My daughter was SGA, but it was a blood flow issue with my own uterine arteries. She was small from the get-go and continued to grow at an acceptable rate.
I hope your upcoming scans are able to shed a little more light on the cause of the growth issue. It sounds like you're being beautifully monitored, so that's a good thing. Lots of great thoughts to you and your LO!
