I'm dead tired - I'm allergic to irises, and while I haven't seen any of the flowers, I'm starting to feel that characteristic scratch/burn at the back of my throat, my eyes are dry and gritty, and congestion is starting. And our town has an Iris Festival next month - they are popular around here. I didn't fare too well last year even when I was able to take something for it - I expect to be basically a zombie for all of May.
First Food - Black Forest cake. And a coffee with almond milk creamer (I don't care if it's decaf.)

How are your numbers this week? My numbers have all been really good this week. They are all staying within normal range and my OB seems happy about that, and so am I!
Rants/raves? I mentioned in another thread I had a bagel from Panera on Friday morning and my # was still within normal range... I've sort of just been "testing" a lot of foods since I am new to all of this. Yesterday morning I had a sprite with my homemade breakfast sandwich... # still normal. I had ice cream last night (only a small scoop because DH had some and it looked too good to pass up) and my fasting # was good this morning. I'm not bragging by any means, I'm just seriously confused!! I'm happy I'm within normal range, I guess I was just expecting these foods I'm 'testing' to have more of an effect on my body. I told DH I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing because I am assuming me and my little guy are safe and healthy as long as my #'s are good. I have a check up on Thursday with my OB, so I'm sure we will discuss everything in detail then because I haven't seen her since the week of my diagnosis.
First food you will eat after delivery? Pizza. ALLLLL the pizza. Oh, and a diet coke. I used to have 1-2 a day, and I haven't touched one since I got my BFP. I needed a good reason to give it up so I quit cold turkey. DH already knows he is to get me one stat after delivery. This isn't 100% GD related, but I'm sure a diet coke isn't GD friendly either

How are your numbers this week? Doing great! I did blow one by just a few points but I ate Chinese food, so I'm happy it only had a small impact. I was expecting it to be worse!
Rants/raves? -just annoyed and frustrated to have to be so scheduled and precise. I really just want to indulge and eat freely!
First food you will eat after delivery? Lately I've been craving a warm blueberry muffin covered in butter...I'm making a list lol!
ladysif I'm so sorry you are sick! I can't imagine having norovirus on top of this pregnancy right now. Ugh. I hope you fell better soon!
I go here now! I'm not a super regular poster, but I was diagnosed last week. I was borderline with DD--barely passed the 3 hour--and failed this time.
How are your numbers this week? My post-meal numbers are great--I'm still getting used to the dietary changes and may actually be under-doing the carbs, but I'm happy with what I'm eating. My fasting are more trouble--my goal is less than 90, and I can barely make it, and sometimes I miss at 90 or 91 (I know that's not a huge miss). I can't figure out a good bedtime snack, and I don't even WANT one. It's so weird to be lying in bed eating string cheese. My fasting number at the 3 hour test was about 75, so it's frustrating that now that I'm doing what they want with a bedtime snack, my numbers are worse. Has anyone been able to skip that one, or do you have ideas for snacks?

How are your numbers this week? My numbers are okay - I am having a hard time after dinner because I immediately fall asleep and therefore my blood sugar doesn't go down as it normally would. So annoying! Not terrible even when it happens but it is frustrating, especially since I hate dinner and dinner food. I am at the point where buying premade salads to eat all the time is getting very tempting....
Rants/raves? That people act like you can prevent getting GD. I understand that to a certain extent lifestyle habits impact it, but I was at a normal weight and ate low carb pre-pregnancy so STFU everyone and don't act like I did this to myself. Confession: the glucose tolerance thread annoys me because it makes me feel like people are bragging about what color hair they were born with it something. Clearly I am sensitive about the subject. End rant!

I actually can't eat a snack at night or it totally messes up my fasting numbers. I spoke with my endocrinologist about it (since I see everywhere that people have to eat snacks at night) and she said some people just react differently and that if I notice it makes my number higher then not to have a snack. So I eat dinner (and I have found that having one serving of full fat, high quality ice cream with dinner still keeps my numbers low, if I don't fall asleep) and then nothing until the next morning and if I do that then my numbers are much much better. laurenlou83, go with it, hon! Your numbers are good, I'd be eating it all. I'm terribly jealous. Were you more of a borderline diagnosis?
missk0411, welcome, sorry you have to be here! I have heard of a couple ladies with GD having better fastings with no snack at night, but not many. Play with it the next few days, now is the time. Maybe give your nutritionist a call too and see what they recommend you try. I don't have issues with my fasting, so I can pull off just having a glass of lemonade or milk or an ice cream Dove bar and be totally fine the next a.m. without any major protein for the nighttime snack. I also don't wait until just before bed; sometimes it happens that way depending on when we have dinner, but usually it is an hour or two before bed. Good luck!
How are your numbers this week? They're awesome! My doc is really pleased. I had a mess up last night...I accidently took my glucose reading an hour after eating instead of two, and I freaked out at the high number. Then my hubby told me we had eaten like an hour ago. Oops.
I've been eating some "not good" things this week. I made a key lime pie for easter and had a small slice. It didn't affect my later reading though. Just small treats in moderation seem to be okay.
Rants/raves? The testing strips are SO expensive!! That, and I HATE when I prick my finger and don't get enough blood and get an error. There goes like $2 down the drain.
First food post-delivery? Anything and everything! I want donuts SO bad.

Hmm. This is where actually doing the GTT would have been informational this time for comparison and curiosity's sake. With DS1 all I remember is that my 1 hour was well into the 200s so I blew it so far out of the water I didn't have to do the 3 hour. This time they just declared me GD via bloodwork at 7 weeks. Whatever the case, glad it is going so well and you're able to have some of the good stuff!
ladysif, I see my OB today for a check-up so I'm sure we will go over all of it. My dr. is on vacation this week, so I'm seeing another in the practice I've never seen, so I'm hoping she can be helpful and give some insight. I figure I'll keep testing the 4x a day like they want me to and just keep an eye out for anything that may cause a spike in my numbers!
laurenlou83 My numbers were similar to yours. My one hour test was 131, my doc cuts off at 130. For the three hour, my fasting was in the 70s, one hour was 185, two hour was 157, and three hour was 119. I failed the middle two.

Also, I talked with my endo and asked her to up my prescription. My co-pay for strips was 30/per 100 and I feel like that was nuts. She wrote me a script for 200 strips testing 4-6 x day, and still $30 co pay, so that helped somewhat!
