DD: put pegs in the plastic peg board today (she usually just pulls/pokes them out), can say and consistently recognize at least 3 colors (maybe closer to 6), puts together 2-word sentences, and is getting really good at body part identification

DS: knows what colors do and do not belong in a rainbow, recognizes and correctly identified 3 different birds that came to our bird feeder today, pretended to make spaghetti in the play kitchen this morning and included all the appropriate things (he even found a toy spaghetti scooper and was worried I wouldn't be able to eat because he couldn't find a toy fork for me), and he figured out the big wheel trike

DS: is starting to memorize books so it looks like he is reading them. He is doing more and more imaginative play, singing and talking to himself. The other day he went in the bathroom without announcing it to everyone, pooped on the potty (I could hear him in there emptying his potty into the big potty)....comes out all nonchalant and I say "hey, what were you doing in there?" response totally straight faced "takin a crap"....tears of laughter.

DD: is far more advanced then DS ever was in the language category. She is full on talking. She loves telling me all the names of her friends at school and her teacher names. She counts to 3. She knows her colors. Im totally floored by it. I sometimes wonder if because her brain is sometimes so far ahead that this is why we are dealing with major frustration melt downs. She also hopped on the kiddy 4-wheeler that we have and just took off driving it. DH and I looked at each other like Oh Shit....here we go.

DD is singing: row, row, row your boat and Jesus loves the little children.. and parts of a few others.
I live hearing her make sentences, I get, I sit, I go.... she surprises me everyday with new words.

My LO has been saying so many new words and is picking up lots of sign language at daycare, so I feel we can finally communicate (well, as much as you can with a 19m old).

And, her face....it's just so cute and I kiss it all the time! It's nice to be at a place where she gives kisses back

DD is finally starting to talk on a more consistent basis. She wasn't using many words at all, but recently she's had something new to say every day.
She says please and thank you every time we do something for her/give her something.

And yeah, those little grins… I'm obsessed with this kid.

DD has also suddenly made a jump in language. This last weekend she brought DH the TV remote and he asked her if she wanted to watch something and she blurted out plain as day "star war". It may have been DH's proudest moment.

She has also become obsessed with "vroom vrooms". We went for a walk the other day by a marina, and it was one meltdown after another as she begged me for: a boat, a truck, a bicycle, and a motorcycle. She often gets what she asks for so it was a hard life lesson to learn. I thought I had a few more years before I had to tell her no to these things :-P

She also loves sirens and whenever she hears one starts saying "wooooooo" with her voice going up and down along with the siren.

Oh, I have another one!

We have a local grocery store that has the little toddler carts for kids. I stopped in the other day to pick up some milk, and since I only needed a couple things, I just let her push a cart instead of getting a basket myself. She has gotten more coordinated with them and no longer charges around ramming things with an evil laugh, which is great.
Anyway, we head to the dairy section and it took me a second to decide what milk I wanted. I turn around to put it in the cart only to see that she had discovered the cheese section. She had already loaded 4 huge blocks of cheese into her cart and was cruising down the aisle taking a block of every type of cheese they stocked. She thought she had died and went to cheese heaven, I couldn't stop laughing!

I can't love this enough! Our kids would be besties!

LO is hilarious asking us to play an ABC song or sing it to her. She'll ask in the sweetest voice, "ABC, ABC, ABC??" While signing please.

She's also become very vocal about, "NOOOOOOOO!" DH and I were hugging and kissing when he got home from work and she was in her high chair and she was so mad someone other than her was giving "Huggies and kissies" she shook her head and screamed, "ah- nooooooooo!" It was hilarious. We did it several times to see if that's what was making her mad and she was not having mom and dad hugging!

She's also a sassafrass and makes me laugh with her attitude!

redfraggle do yours have a cheese addiction, too? DD begs for cheese all day. I'm pretty sure she loves cheese more than anything else. If me and DH and cheese were falling off a cliff, she'd save the cheese, no question.

Yes! My kids have a major cheese addiction. It was one of DD's first words. She throws a fit if I give her something else for her bedtime snack. They also like putting stuff in the cart. I learned to harness this by having them get things and put them in the cart and on the belt, but I've had a few items come home with us when I didn't catch them in the store.

DD's "shopping" totally cracks me up! She obediently follows me around the store, but whenever I pause to look at something, she starts browsing the aisle to see if there's anything she wants. She takes herself so seriously and looks like a minature adult with her cart. But she is also practical, she was trying to load her cart with packs of diapers last time as well. Diapers and cheese, what else could a toddler need?
