Anyone with Ectopic experience?

 As I mentioned I am currently dealing with an ectopic pregnancy. My Hcg levels were low to begin with (217), but the egg was on the large side for methotrexate. We did the methotrexate on Saturday, and I was hospitalized until Monday.
my Hcg levels slowly rose all weekend (2 pts here, 3 pts there). I got them tested yesterday, and found out this afternoon, they are up to 279. I know that isn't a big rise but...
so the plan was to do blood on Friday and Dr would get the results on Monday. But this bothers me. So I talked to her today and decided to go to emerg on Friday and wait for the results there. 
The pain is slightly worse today and I am exhausted and bleeding more.

anyone with any thoughts on this? I really have no idea if this is the right way to proceed or whether it would have been fine.

I don't have any experience with an ectopic, but I did take methotrexate to induce my MC since my body did not get the memo that the pregnancy had ended. I know what a long and tough process it can be. No advice or wisdom, just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and offer creepy Internet hugs.

No experience at all fabk. I can certainly understand you feeling unsettled by those results. Why would they have you wait until Friday if you are feeling worse and bleeding more?

jmc11511, how long was your process? I am trying to figure out if I will feel well enough to work next week. I know it all depends on the person and what happens with my beta hcg on Friday.

fabk sorry I just saw this. I took the first dose on a Sat morning and had started bleeding and passing clots by that afternoon. The bleeding continued all week but was never really heavy. It turned out I had retained some tissue, so I had to do a second round. I did two doses both rounds. The first and second dose of each round were 24 hours apart from each other. After I did the second round a week after the MMC initially started, I bled really heavily for about two days and then the bleeding totally stopped. It took about 6 weeks for my HCG to get down to zero. I was only in a lot of pain with cramping and such during the days when I took the methotrexate. It is different for everyone, or at least that's what I'm told. Take care of yourself. Hope that helped and wasn't too confusing.

Oh, also, my HCG was still at 4,000 after the first round of methotrexate, after the second round it had dropped to 979. It just took a long time for my body to clear everything out.

Thanks jmc11511, I am uncomfortable 24/7 but with pain and pain attacks (the attacks last 30-45mims). I am having trouble sitting up for long periods of time, which could make my desk/reception job a little difficult.

unringthebell, I am waiting on my ride to the hospital now. Doing my 7 day bloodwork in emerg and waiting on results since my day 4 blood went up instead of down.
I may come back for advice later today when I get my results back.
It looks like our histories are fairly similar. I had a MMC in May 2012 at 12 weeks, my son was born Aug 2013 and now this.

I am torn at this point between wanting the surgery just to get it over with, but don't want to make my struggle ttc in the future any harder than it already likely will be. I really just want this over with.

Hi fabk, I had an ectopic that resulted in losing a tube, but I have also had mtx for retained tissue.

As far as numbers rising, it is fairly common for them to go up a little after receiving a dose. However, I believe that is only in the first couple of days, and then levels should drop by 25% every couple of days, and levels followed down to 0.

How far along were you? A bulging tube with that low of a beta is not something I have really seen. However, if your tube is already bulging then most docs will opt for surgery as the risk of the tube rupturing is greatly decreased.

If you are not already at the hospital, or waiting to be seen, I would demand to see an OB on call, and not just the ER doc. Had I known that when I first started going to the ER for my pain then my tube may have been saved.

Long story but I ended up with surgery Friday night. It turned out it was in my tube all along. The Dr was shocked. It was so distended that it was pushing my tube against my ovary. It was over an inch long(the egg/mass whatever) and leaking blood. My hemoglobin and bp never dropped. We only found out after we insisted on an ultrasound (Hcg had dropped that day almost as much as they had wanted, so they were going to send me home).
They were able to save everything and found some other problems that they fixed (adhesions and lesions). I am home now and trying to recover.

fabk I am so so glad you insisted on that ultrasound! I'm so sorry you have gone through all of this, but I'm so glad they were able to save everything and fix other issues. I hope your recovery is smooth and easy. Sending healing thoughts your way ((hugs))

I am so sorry that this was the outcome. Take it easy on yourself and rest up while recovering. I am sorry for your loss. ((hugs))
