I live in an apartment and our smoke/carbon detector is hard wired into my ceiling. There is no batteries. It has been beeping loudly all morning! One loud ass beep every 90 seconds! It woke up my baby! I tried to call the office and realized about an hour after I left a message it is Sunday, so no one will be helping me today. The maint. man lives on site and I am so tempted to go knock on his door, because we don't have a number for him. I took it down and it got quiet, but then I started freaking out thinking their might be a electrical fire and it wouldn't be there to alert us. I am seriously considering going to hang out in Walmart for the next couple hours till H gets home from work to fix it....I cant decide what is more aggravating 2 kids in Walmart or the beeping.

Ours are also hard wired, but have back up batteries. After you unscrew them, there is a second back that comes off with the battery.

Same. They usually have batteries in case the power goes out.

Thanks, it didn't stop and the manager never called me today. I am going out of my mind! H took it down and it is flashing that it is in need of maint. so first thing in the morning I will be marching me and both boys up to the office and demand that my repairs be fixed pronto! I have service orders 3 months old and them not getting with me about something so important as a smoke detector has pushed me over my limit!
