I know the pregnancy hormones have me more emotional than usual, but regardless of the hormones, I'd be emotional today.
It's the second anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings and I just watched the Richard family reveal new banners at the bombing site.
Boston is my city. I can't express the sadness, pride and fear I feel thinking about that day. But Boston is starting a new tradition today, one meant to inspire kindness - a tradition to pay it forward.
Please consider participating in "One Boston Day". Do something kind today. Buy lunch for someone at work, send some food to your local fire department or send a thank you note to the ER at your local hospital.....whatever you do, tell people it's in honor of Boston. In honor of Martin, Krystle, Lingzi, and Sean....and the survivors who's strength inspire every day.
If you have social media, check out #OneBostonDay.
I love Boston and can remember that day like it was yesterday! My DH works near Boston and my dad had heart surgery that week in Boston. It sure was a scary day! Thank you for posting this!
Thanks! I was at the Red Sox game that day. Just down the street.
DH and I had our first date on Patriots Day (Marathon Monday) the year before and left the game to walk down to the finish line and watch the rest of the race. On the day of the bombing, our plan was to do the same, except my father in law called (which was out-of-the-ordinary) to have a celebratory drink with us because we just purchased a home, and we left the Red Sox game to meet him for a drink in a different section of the city. That's when the bombings happened.
That whole week was a nightmare. I was afraid to go to work, and eventually the city shut down while they looked for the bombers. With Tsarnaov on trial right now, the emotions are really strong in the city today.

The whole week was really a nightmare. I have many friends/ family that were in the area during the bombing-- my cousin was running in the marathon. We were living outside the city at the time so it felt slightly removed but still very traumatizing.
