Now that the weather is starting to change and summer break (for those with school aged kids) is looming lets talk fun activities and trips. We aren't sending my older daughter to camp this year because $, and also because she never really enjoys it anyway. I need to find some fun activities for my days off and weekends that we can do and that aren't impossible with DS. We belong to a pool but I'm hoping to fill our spring/summer with new activities or trips so I don't hear "I'm bored" all summer long. So, what are your summer plans?
I'm just gonna say survival because summer is the nightmare scenario time at my work...
but seriously, going to register my baby for the Summer Reading Program (again). Then he can get more of whatever loot we're giving away this year. Last year he got a cute bib (that I haven't used because it's an old school tie-on type.) If I didn't work, I'd take him to the programs at the library, but as it is I can only glare at other moms with jealousy instead.
Part of me thinks the beach would be fun, but it's so freaking hot and DH and I aren't the lounge on the beach types.
We'll probably just stay in the air conditioning a lot and I'll try not to go crazy from work.

We will probably get a zoo pass. We go to the pool in our neighborhood almost everyday, the library once a week, and parks a couple of times a month.
June is always super busy. DH's birthday, MIL's birthday, our anniversary, DS1's birthday, Fathers Day, we always take the boys to the Day Out with Thomas train ride, plus this year we are going to a cabin for a long weekend with the ILs.
July will bring the 4th, DD's birthday, our vacation to Michigan, and art & Lego day camps for DS1.
By the beginning of August, I'll be back into work mode. Luckily I can take the kids with me to school to get my classroom set back up and such. I start back like the 17th, so the little kids will start at daycare. DS1's first day is August 20.
We join the jcc summer membership so we get access to the pool and special prices on other things going on there.
We also have a zoo and museum membership which gives us free or cheap access to all that stuff; zoo, aquarium, botanical gardens, the kids hands on science center, history and art museums. Definitely worth checking out the memberships, we only have to go 3 times to any one of them all year to save money and we go a lot.
I am going to sign up DD2 for some music classes and maybe start taking aviv to little gym to be around some other babies.
We have a zoo membership, and it's great! We also have a small aquarium/natural history museum here, so we'll probably join that as well (over the course of the next year or so). Since I work, we also put our babysitter on our zoo membership, so she can take her daughter and my LO during the day if they want.
Neighborhood pool/backyard blowup pool will likely see a lot of action, too.

We'll be buying a blow up pool cuz it's just too hot in the summer not to have a pool. Beach for a week in August. But other than that I have no plans. I need to do some research as well as make some friends with children. Haha

I'm jealous of these fun summer activities! It makes me sad that I'll be sitting in my cubicle instead of being outside with LO this year. Summer/Fall maternity leave was the best.
