Ok MoMs out there, I'm looking for some advice. We are starting out registry this weekend and I'm wondering a few things: 1. Was there anything that you got 2 of that you didn't need multiples 2. Was there anything that you had that was a lifesaver?
3. Anything you wished you would have had or spent more $ to get a different version of?
4. Did anyone try Spectrum S1 hospital grade Breat pump? Does it matter that it's not compatible with a nursing bra?
We were pretty careful not get two of things, the exception being 2 Rock and Plays. We got one portable swing, and one bounce/vibration chair, which they are too small for yet..
Honestlly, we use a ton of burp cloths, and we bought the Dundee pack, I think they double as do it yourself cloth diapers. We go thru a ton of those in a day. Also, you can have too many blankets, but not enough swaddlers IMO. The A&A ones are great for covering the stroller, using it as a blanket, or a changing pas cover, not so great for swaddling though.
I have the Medela PISA pump and I love it. A hands free pumping bra is a must in my book!

1. We didn't have a registry or shower, but we had kept all of DS's things so we only needed to buy more of items or duplicates as needed. A good rule for most items is to get one, and then determine if you need two. Kids are all different and will have different preferences as far as swings/jumparoos/toys go (not to mention you can rotate out what item is in use most of the time), and kids can grow into different sizes separately (my girls were the same size at birth, but there's a nearly 4lb difference now).
2. My My Brestfriend Twin Plus Nursing Pillow, and our swings. Those girls would NOT nap the first couple months unless they were either being held, or in their swings. I'm still using our nursing pillow at 9m out, although I think we'll be retiring it soon
3. I bought everything at consignment stores except the cribs and car seats. We had to buy a new stroller because we couldn't find a decent double used. No regrets. There were some strollers I was tempted to buy, but they were double the price and I don't feel the features were worth that much more for our purposes.
4. Do you mean a Spectra? I had a Medela PIS from DS, but insurance covered a pump so I got a Spectra S2 with the twins since it's hospital grade. I really like it for home use, it works very well and the settings are nice. The Medela is better for on the go, since it comes in a tote and had a battery pack. Parts are also easy to obtain with the Medela. I like the Spectra better though.
I would love to hear advice on this topic as well...I am feeling so overwhelmed with registering and researching different options for strollers, car seats, monitors, etc. etc.!!
I did not have a baby shower because my twins were #3 and #4, but I do agree that you do not need two of everything. Also, if you can store/buy things in stages, that helps with the massive amount of stuff. I tried to "retire" old gear as I acquired new gear (so for example, the jumperoos replaced the swing). They had 1 swing, 1 pack and play, 2 rock and plays, 2 bouncers (probably could have done 1 if needed), 2 jumperoos, and 2 high chairs. The biggest lifesavers for me were the Joovy Twin Roo stroller, and the My Brestfriend Double nursing pillow. I used those things ALL the time. We have a Combi Twin Sport now, and it is OK. Sometimes I wish I got a nicer stroller, but it is not in the budget and this one does the trick. All of the gear that I mentioned above was either used from a previous child, purchased used for a very low price, or borrowed. If I had to purchase all of those things new, there is no way I would have found them all necessary. As long as they have two places to sleep eventually (we had them in one PNP, then 2 rock and plays, then two cribs), two places to sit/play safely during the day (so maybe a swing and a bouncer in the beginning, and now 2 jumperoos), and 2 places to eat when they are eating solids, you should be OK.
We had two high chairs, two bouncy chairs, and two cribs. We skipped the swing because of space issues and we had one jumparoo type toy, one play mat, a snap n go atroller and a combi twin sport. We got a hand me down swing for ds2 and he didn't really take to it so it made us feel like we really weren't missing out with not having one for the twins. We did have a gazillion bottles so we could wash every other day but I'm not sure that was a particularly good idea. I think if you take a wait and see approach you'll find out what you really need two of. If I found myself constantly wishing I had another of something for a week or two than I would get it. Otherwise you aren't missing out and it saves on space and money.
I still had some gear from my DD and my sister had a baby 10 months before my boys, so I was able to borrow a lot of my "seconds."
I had/have two: cribs, high chairs, car seats, rock n plays, pack n plays, stationary entertainers (Ours were both the Bright Starts Bounce, Bounce Baby. We found a GREAT deal on a second, otherwise, we would have had one,) and boppys.
You really only NEED two car seats, cribs, and high chairs. If we hadn't been able to borrow so much from my sister, we probably would have gotten by with much less.
I had/have one: swing, bouncy seat, double stroller, floor activity mat, and twin nursing pillow.
We went through a lot of burp cloths, bibs, and receiving blankets.
We have two- cat seats, rnp's, mamaroos (borrowed) and highchairs and cribs. We also have one bouncer and one little vibrating rocking chair.
The mamaroos have been lifesavers for us but honestly if we hadn't been able to borrow them we couldn't/wouldn't have bought two, they are pricey!
We have one jumperoo and will see how they like that before we get another one.
One thing I couldn't live without is my play mat that plays music. My kids love that thing and it buys us hours of peace and quiet (minus the music of course lol). We only have one so they both just lay on it. Other than that we go through a ton of bibs and burp cloths.

These are my twin registry recs. I did a lot of research and it ended up working out well for me; I know this list was passed around the Bump for a long time, too, and I got some feedback that it was helpful:
