I took the little one in to the docs a few weeks back because she had really dry, red patches on her fingers. I was worried about eczema but the doc said she thought it was just due to the fact that she's teething and likes to chew her fingers. She suggested aquaphor at night (when she doesn't have her fingers in her mouth). I've been doing that but one finger has now cracked and bleeds. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I've tried mittens, she pulled them off. I'm scared to do a band aid in case she is able to pull it off and choke. Anyone else experiencing this, or have any suggestions?? I am going back to the docs in 2 weeks for a well check, so will talk more then but was trying to come up with some sort of solution sooner. If I knew how to do this on my phone, I'd post a pic. Thanks in advance

Use lanolin. You can reapply as needed throughout the day and not have to worry about it getting in her mouth. Try band aids if you want, just keep an eye on her. If she pulls it off, then you know that won't work. I'd give mittens a try in the evening for bed or nap time, but not during waking hours. She'll want to explore too much that they'll be more of a hindrance than a help.

Sounds like what I get in the winter. I just use a ton of lotion. Typically aveeno. I can never really make it go away I just try and prevent it from cracking and bleeding.

If you do continue to put lotion or something on them, you could use a sock. DD has been getting medication on her fingernail the past few days and I cover with a sock during naps so she goes to sleep and forgets about it. The sock seems a little harder to get off than a mitten.
I'd also consider seeing a pediatric dermatologist. I tend to prefer to see specialists because I feel like general doctors typically will pass things off as normal, but that's just how I roll.
