Name thoughts/suggestions

Now that I know we're having a girl I'm anxious to have a name for her! It's so much harder this time. H & I knew we would go with Dagny (main Atlas Shrugged character) before we were even thinking about getting pregnant! Unfortunately I don't like any other Ayn Rand heroine names. So here is my list so far (middle name will be Carla & last name starts with a C & is 2 syllables):

Ainsley
Rosalie
Alisa (this is H's add, I don't like it much, it's Rands given name)
Alice (will be scrapped if royals use)
Cosette (not sure since middle & last name start with C)
Gwendolyn
Darcy

If you are bored today feel free to give feedback or throw out additional suggestions! I'd like something more "different " since Dagny isn't exactly a common name.

My number one would be Rosalie then Ainsley. I don't really have any suggestions though.

I like Ainsley...but that may just be the West Wing love talking. As a sibling for Dagny I don't love it, actually, because I don't care for rhyming names. I think Alice or Gwendolyn would be my favorites.

Ha that's where we got it from! And that's my concern with it too - Don't know if I like that it rhymes.

I like Rosalie and Alice. I also like the names like Calliope, Astrid, and Hazel. My H poo pooped all those names but they are unique and may work well with Dagny.

Have you thought about using the name Ayn since you like Ayn Rand?

I met a girl in college with the name Anya and I've loved that name ever since. It reminds me of Ayn.

From your list I like Alice and Gwendolyn.

My girl name was always going to be Madeline, but maybe that is a strange match with Dagny?

I think Darcy is a little too close to Dagny so I probably wouldn't use that one. Are there any other literary heroines that you both like? If so, you could stick with that theme instead of an unusual name. I can't think of any now but I'm sure there is a list out there somewhere.

Totally random, but my painter's daughter's name is Isabella and I think it's pretty. She could go by Bella or Izzy.

aimeefarrahfowler, that is probably my favorite name of all time. When they first told us Tyler was a girl, I begged for Madeline or Ainsley. They are my top too, easily. But we decided on Sophia.

Then when it was a boy, we argued again. H and I have very different tastes in names!

I love the name Darcy, but Darcy and Dagny feels very matchy-matchy to me. Other Austen names could be Lydia or Austen.

Personally, I super love the name Thisbe, but MH vetoed it. Other literary names that got vetoed over here were Harriet, Ramona, Matilda, Jane, and Willa.

Riverdong11, my H likes Ayn but I don't - too harsh IMO. Plus Dagny's middle name is Anne and I feel like they're really similar. Thats why he threw out Alisa since it was her given name. Anya, hum not bad I will think on it.

tribute17, I wondered about the Darcy being too matchy - boo its such a cute name! I love Josephinefrom Little Women and Scarlett from Gone With the Wind but hate all nicknames that come from Josephine and I know too many girls named Scarlett.

aimeefarrahfowler, Love Madeline but my niece is Madison so I feel like its too similar. sarasansh, hum Austen for a girl? Could be interesting. Where is Thisbe from? I like Willa! When do you find out the sex of yours??
