Study on Drinking in the US

Apparently only 56% of adults nationally had a drink in the last month...they can't all be pregnant...so who are these people that don't even drink once a month?

We actually don't drink much. I would say 2-3 times a year for us. We never buy it and don't go out much. I also think it has to do with the fact that I have been TTC/Pregnant/with newborn/with crappy sleeper for the last 7 years. It has really cut into my time. H is maybe a little more than that. We aren't teetotalers or anything like that, just don't drink for some reason. Looking back we stopped about 7 years ago so I'm sure that is not a coincidence. The only time I really crave it is while pregnant...

I don't really drink at all. I have in the past a little but just don't have a taste for it. I don't drink coffee either.

Add me to the 56%. I like wine but rarely drink it. One glass is enough to make my face flush and make me feel tipsy. I hate that feeling. It probably happens because I don't drink often to begin with.

My dad doesn't, and doesn't drink coffee. I think it's a Baptist thing for him. We grew up in Baptist churches where they would preach against drinking beers at games, etc. We never had alcohol in the house growing up and even when we went out my parents just ordered soda. Sometime toward the end of their marriage, my mom started keeping wine in the house. When they did split up and my mom was free to drink at will, I was like "HOW DID YOU SURVIVE 26 YEARS WITH NO WINE IN THE HOUSE?"

My step mom doesn't really drink much either (she will have the occasional glass of wine if offered) and she doesn't drink coffee. When we go visit she pulls out this sad little Mr. Coffee that she's had forever and a bag of ground coffee that she's had in the freezer for years. My H and I just started bringing our own coffee LOL.

This is me, except I don't hate the feeling. I almost never drink at home because my wine always goes bad before I finish it. I drink maybe once every other month. I had my wine night on Wednesday, so it might be a while until my next. (I guess I don't technically count in the 56% since I drank on Wednesday, but the last time I drank before that was Valentines Day.)

Raises hand. I very rarely drink, even just a drink. I'd say I consume alcohol maybe 3-4 times per year. And that's generally just a drink or two. There just aren't many alcoholic drinks I actually enjoy the taste of. I also get crazy bad hangovers and it just isn't worth it when I still have to deal with the kids in the morning.

I'm good for maybe 2 or 3 beers a month in the warmer months. I don't drink in the winter. I'm not a wine drinker, and I can't hang with hard liquor anymore. I think I fall into the 56%

I actually don't drink that often either! I just don't seem To have the alone time to drink by myself in the evening because it isn't as enjoyable when your toddler keeps trying to put buzz light year in your glass to splash! Also I don't get out enough to drink with my friends! Lol although tonight I had 2 glasses of wine!

Add me into this group too. I don't actually drink very often. H doesn't drink at all, so we don't really keep alcohol in the house. I usually will have a drink or two if I hang out with my sisters.

I almost bought a Bota box the last time I was at the liquor store, but I didn't think I would drink it fast enough. I also don't like to drink when the kids are awake and I am good enough at falling asleep on the couch once they're in bed without any help

Don't get me wrong, I do love the booze

aimeefarrahfowler if you do decide on getting the bota box (it's my fav out of all of the boxed wines) it stays fresh for 3 weeks (and I bet even longer then that) because of the way the bag seals it. My Mom usually buys boxed wine for this reason because she feels like she wastes opening a bottle because she doesn't drink it fast enough. I buy boxed wine for a completely different reason but I'm sure you all know that

I guess I just make up for the rest of you . I used to not drink too much, but now with 2 kids, it's my little reward to myself. Plus with a Total Wine nearby, I've got a lot of wine and beer to drink through

Coffee every morning and wine in the evening. And sometimes some of each in the afternoon!

Yup I make up for all you non drinkers (when I'm not pregnant anywY!). I have at least 1-2 alcoholic beverages a day . I actually really enjoy the taste of a good beer or wine plus it's a nice way to unwind after the day.
