So I got an email from financial aid back in Feb telling me I need to meet with my advisor for an academic success report. We have a program where you schedule meetings and on that scheduler she was unavailable for online appt. So I emailed her and got absolutely no response. Since I have been emailing her every week with no response until last week I emailed the department head and asked for a new advisor. She asked me why I told her and she said no. After this I get an email from my advisor telling me I shouldn't be emailing her all appointment should be made through starfish (the program). I shoot an email back telling her she isn't available and she pretty much tells me I'm only person who cant get her through starfish.
Well today I finally met with her because you can not register until your advisor says so. My appt was 11 she showed up at 1145. During my meeting people kept walking into her office interrupting. Then her computer fail ed and she got on the phone on speaker and was incredible rude with the poor lady from the office trying to help her.
She criticized my class choices because I can only do classes after 4. Told me I wasn't taking enough.3classes isn't enough? Anyways I'm mad she was rude and my school won't give me a new advisor. Vent over.

Ugg...that's awful. Advisers are supposed to be helpful. Maybe trying telling them how unsupportive she has been, all the other issues. Keep track of everything, and keep complaining.she Souderton be encouraging you to finish your degree how ever you can, giving you her undivided attention during your meeting, and offering advice in a constructive manner. It shouldn't be hard for them to change you, maybe look into anyone else you can contact to get switched.

Incredibly frustrating. Ok if you had to make the appointment through the system, but unacceptable the way you were treated with your messages being ignored, and then being late for and interrupted during the appointment. She's there to advise and make your life easier, not to make it more difficult!
I'd follow up with someone on the advising staff (or maybe the dept head again), and explain your experience. Hopefully they can honor a request to switch now that you've met with her, given the circumstances of the meeting. Good luck!
That sucks. Advisors are supposed to be helpful. I had a crappy in college. I found a professor that was willing to put in a request for a transfer in advisory for me. Is this an option? Could you find someone yourself and then see if they can request to be your advisor?

Yes, my MAT instructor is being extremely helpful. She has submitted a formal request of transfer on my behalf and she has given me 3 people who are allowed to make those changes, but they are not honoring my request. I honestly believe they are not giving me the time of day, because it is final exams time, so I am hoping after Summer term starts and chaos mellows a bit I will request it again.
My MAT instructor told me last night that if I cant get it changed she would advise me if I wanted. I am just worried that she will not be able to unlock my RAN each semester, because she isn't my assigned advisor, but good thing about the ending Spring is my summer and fall semester is unlocked at the same time, so I don't have to see that woman again until October.
