AW; good news with DS head stitches

As many of your know DS2 had skull surgery in October and I posted last week that one of the brackets from inside his head was pushing its way out, and the surgeon was going to have to remove it in February. Well the piece came out on Sunday on its own, I am attaching a picture incase you are curious what hardware would look like--pretty crazy. DS2 didn't have any idea anything was happening and it did not hurt him at all. So now we don't need to go to the doctor in Feb. YEAH!!! Woot woot for super hardcore little kids--

Oh wow! I'm really glad he wasn't bothered by that! The Dr is okay with everything? No concern of infection or a piece being left behind?

The doctor thinks the incision spot where the piece came out looks great, it healed right over and it nice and pink. There was not bleeding or anything. The piece looks to the doctors as if it broke off and the rest is in his head like it is suppose to be. His skull is full is these brackets and screws and his body will break them down around a year post surgery.

So it will all dissolve over the next year?

When I broke my nose I had massive chips come out for a while. It sucked and was gross but didn't hurt at all. I hope that's the only one he loses!

Yes, over the next year the material will break down. The reason this bracket escaped was that stitches had not healed the entire way when his body started pushing the bracket out. It was a fluke that this one got out. He was cut ear to ear, and the brackets the surgeon used will break down over time. Weird! I just hope it is the only one that pops though!!

With my nose it was irritating because my eyes would water like hell for a day or two. I'm glad he wasn't upset.
