So we have our bedroom window open tonight because it's hot as balls upstairs. We should've closed the windows and put on the AC, but we didn't. Now DH is asleep on the couch downstairs so I can't even make him go close the windows and turn on the air. But my main issue is why the hell are there birds chirping outside at 2:00 in the morning??!!!! Seriously. I expected to be woken up by them in the wee early morning hours, but 2:00?! WTF?!!! Go to sleep birds!!!!! Maybe they are pregnant birds that can't sleep either.... Lol
Ok so I win the award for the worst night ever. I've been laying in bed trying to sleep for about 3 hours. I have the fan on full blast. I think I finally am just starting to fall asleep. I keep hearing a rustling, and I think it's likely just a plastic bag or something in the room that is being blown a bit from the fan. I get up once to check and find no bag, but I do see these old, dry palms laying on the floor by the rocking chair. Don't remember where they were originally, maybe just laying on my dresser, or maybe they had been on the floor, but I thought that's probably what was making that noise I was hearing. So I pick them up and move them and cover them with some clothes so the breeze won't move them again.
About 10 minutes pass and I hear a "thunk" and I'm like ok, wtf was that? A fan doesn't just knock something over. So I look over to where I hear the noise and I see the outline of some large rodent, with a long skinny tail, on my husband's nightstand. Holy fuck. Did I seriously just see that?! As I start to move to get up, it takes off and is gone. So I run out of there as fast as I can and run downstairs to wake up my husband and tell him.
I tell him what happened and I can tell he is nervous. So for the past 30 minutes he's been looking for it and trying to figure out what the hell to do when he does find it. I closed our bedroom door to hopefully trap it in there. In the meantime, he has found poop on the stairs, in the upstairs hallway, and in the nursery. I am freaking the fuck out. Who knows what is in my daughter's room. I don't think it's just a mouse either, because we have had a mouse in our garage before (we live in front of woods) and he said the poop from that was a lot smaller.
This is the worst night ever. Ever ever ever. My daughter is having a Mother's Day Tea tomorrow morning at preschool and I have literally slept for maybe 30 minutes? It's 4:30 am now.
And as I am typing this, I hear him say "holy shit" so I ask what, and he says, "it's right there at the top of the stairs."
Fuck.
I feel so fucking bad for my husband that he has to figure all this out. What the hell?! Where did it even come from?! I'm so scared and grossed out!!! How can I ever fall back to sleep after this?! How will this even end?! Ahhhhhh!!!!

OMG junch817, I was about to commiserate with you about the birds chirping at 2AM because that was also happening here, but then I got to your next post!!! WTH!!! What is going on with your rodent? Please update!
Seriously though, what is up with the 2AM birds???
I don't know what's happening. I still hear my husband creeping around upstairs. I know he has no idea what the hell to do. Maybe he can't find it again. And even if he sees it, what does he do?! He killed the mouse in the garage by hitting it with a shovel. Ummmm yeah. He is creeping around upstairs trying not to scare off the (likely) rat or wake up my daughter. This sucks.

Oh my God. So as I am sitting here in the living room typing my last thing, I keep hearing noises behind me, but I'm just figuring I'm extra paranoid. I keep looking around and seeing nothing. Finally I get up to go inspect and on top of my daughter's chair, I see it. I freak out. I don't even recognize what it is before it takes off, and I'm yelling my husband' name as loud as I can. He doesn't come for like 2 minutes...wtf he claims he didn't hear me on the other side of the house...I tell him it's in the living room. So he's all like great, all my "equipment" is upstairs - a broom, a Rubbermaid container, who knows what else. He looks around a bit, and doesn't find anything, so he leaves.
I keep watching and then I see it again, and it's a chipmunk!! We have a million that run around outside. Drives us crazy. But a lot less scary (somehow) than a mouse or rat. So now we know what it is, and still have no idea what to do. Do we kill it or try to catch it? It looks so so scared. It's hiding out under my daughter's play stroller. I can tell he doesn't want to kill it, and he only has a plastic broom anyway.
Fast forward 15-20 minutes. I have scaled up the back of my couch and am now perched on the top and sitting on that and the toy cube storage thing behind it. Somehow, God willing, he corners down the chipmunk as it is hiding behind my daughter's potty chair. He traps it and someone tricks it into going into the Rubbermaid container. We both start saying "holy shit" over and over. So I yell go get the lid. He gets the lid and quickly slaps it up against the container. It tries getting out but he is able to tip it up and lock one side. He couldn't lock the other side because he was holding it down with his foot. So he tells me to go open the front door. Side note - all of this has been taking place with me just in my underwear and nothing else because I was so dang hot tonight. So I go open the front door, in nothing but my underwear, and he slides the container out and down the stairs. I close the door and he comes in a few seconds later. He had opened it up and after a few seconds of the chipmunk standing frozen in fear, he ran out down the driveway,
Oh my shit.
What a fucking night.
It's now past 5:30. We have been chasing down this chipmunk for 2 hours now. I have slept maybe 30 minutes, I don't know if I will be able to fall back asleep, but I have to at least try. Wish me luck. Ahhhhhhhh!
Um junch817, you win all the awards for reasons not to be able to sleep!! Mice are bad enough (we had mice at one if our old apts) but a mystery rodent, NO THANK YOU! Do you think its a possom or something that got in from the yard? Besides rat, ugh, its the first thing that comes to mind with that description.....
ETA: read your update.... I'm so glad he caught it. Oh.my.gosh. I would be so on edge now!
I woke up to pee at 3:30, called the nurse for vitals, so she wouldn't bother me another time.... Lay back down... Acid. Ugh. So I take a tums from my purse, better... Can't get comfortable... Flip, flop, try all the positions.... My back starts aching again, ugh!
Sure as shit I'm still awake, wide f*cking awake, at 5:45... They'll be in sometime in the next 15 mins to do monitoring.... I might as well just call them now and get it over with.
Ugh. I'm back for yet another night. Rodent free this time (knock on wood). Latest issue - our air conditioner broke. And it's been unseasonably hot in PA. It reached 87* today. There is absolutely no breeze outside, our ceiling fan is on its fastest speed, and I am laying here without clothes in a pool of my own sweat. This week has been a nightmare. Our hot water tank started leaking earlier this week, so we bought a new one, and now it looks like we will need a new AC unit as well. Not being able to sleep sucks, but it sucks even more when you are so incredibly HOT!!!! Ahhhhh!!!

I'm so sorry! You are having the worst luck this see. Hope it gets better.
Woke up from tooth pain :-( hopefully tylonal will kick in soon. The dentist gave me tylonal with a small amount of codine but I'm afraid to take it more than once a day(probably being a super special snowflake about this). I can not wait until the antibiotic kicks in!!
junch817 I'm so so so sorry your air is broken. I was complaining that mine wasn't down enough. I can not believe how hot it is in PA right now! Hopefully you can cool down enough to get some rest!!!
I haven't had insomnia in years but I was wide awake last night. I laid in bed for two hours and tried to sleep/played on my phone. H bought me a subscription to Next Issue, which is fantastic if you love magazines, btw, and I read an issue of Star. I finally Got up and took a shower, sat in baby's rocker/glider with my iPad and friends on Netflix, and was asleep in fifteen minutes.

Had my first bout of this last night! Not sure if it's because of actual insomnia or because of my husband and 85lb dog snoring opposite of each other-__- Finally turned the TV on to drown them out and got back to sleep within 10 minutes;)

Apparently I've been shifting to sleeping on my back (propped up) and then snoring pretty often. So not only am I awake to pee every 2 hours, but in-between peeing DH keeps waking me up saying "babe, turn over" to get me to stop snoring. So even my 2-hour stints of sleep are not solid. I feel like a wreck. No wonder I've been so emotional!
Napping is easier for some reason. Maybe once I'm on m-leave I'll just get up at 4am and then take good naps during the day.
junch817, I'm just catching up on this now...what an insane night! It totally reminds me of the night a bat got into our cabin (have you seen The Great Outdoors? because it was very similar).

This is the third night I've woken up hot as can be, sneezing my head off, running nose, and watering eyes. I've tried everything I can think of to make it stop. At least I gotten my temp under control tonight, everything else not so much.
Idk what this new development is or where it came from but it can go back. Just saying.
Has everyone been sleeping soundly for 9 nights now??! If so, I hate you all.
Here I am. Totally uncomfortable, exhausted and wide awake. Over it all. 2:00am. Come on sleep.
Unfortunately you are not alone. I keep telling myself just lay in the dark with silence and it will happen(sleep that is). Maybe I need to get off of this thing!
Add me to the RLP, pelvic discomfort, heartburn can't sleep bus. I took a bath before bed to help me fall asleep with no luck and another at 3 am before I squeezed in a few hours of sleep. Third Tri sleep deprivation does suck. I got almost no sleep at all in the week leading up to DS's delivery. At least the end is in sight.

Was up last night because I got up to pee, then couldn't fall asleep for so long I ended up being SO HUNGRY, so I had to get up and eat cereal. So stupid. Can I please have a nap?
I don't know why I even bother coming to bed before 4:00 in the morning. It's pointless. Also, I just pulled a muscle in my lower belly on the side while trying to go from lounging to laying on my side. So painful. I couldn't relax the muscle it pulled so badly. Just when I thought the pain was starting to go away a bit, I had a huge contraction. Holy shit, that was so incredibly painful!!! It pulled that sore muscle so tight I could barely catch my breath. Ahhhh.... isn't bedtime the best?!

I'm on the weirdest (for me) sleep schedule. I'm in bed by 8:30/9pm, and up around 6am. I've always been a night owl, so I'm not quite sure what to do with myself in the early morning like this!!
fatmilkisdelish, I've been eating all the things, too. It's ok!!
