Up All Night.. Pregsomnia Attack! Anyone Else?

Just reaching out into the void to see how everyone else is doing with their insomnia struggles.  I know a bunch of us have been up all night lately, and I myself cannot seem to get a single wink tonight.  I've switched from the bed to the couch 3 or 4 different times, changed my blanket, changed my level of dress/undress, peed about 30 times, eaten a bowl of cereal, listened to my guided meditation on repeat, tossed and turned from 10PM til 3AM and finally given up.  I'm in a foul mood now, my head hurts, my hips hurt, my neck hurts, my belly button fucking hurts, I'm hungry but I have heartburn, and now I've just over-thought myself into awakeness.  What seems to keep yall awake?  Is is pain/general discomfort? Anxiety?  Combination?  What kinds of things do you do to distract yourself or relax yourself?  I was thinking of reading a book but I'm hesitant to turn on a light, so I decided to come on here and see if anyone else was insomniacking tonight.

I just can't sleep right now. Maybe because baby is going nuts but I just can't sleep. I know I'll regret it when my kids wake me up in the morning really early of course. But on the plus side I've semi started my maternity leave and have 4 days off in a row so I'm not sweating it too much. I was also getting a lot of contractions earlier and they seem like they've gone away but I'm still keeping an eye on them. I'm hungry, I'm gonna go get some watermelon!

Snacking on apple bread I bought at the farmer's market today. I should have gone to bed hours ago but I started working on DH's university schedule for next term. I was so excited they have the classes up so I can start making plans. Registration doesn't open until 1 June and that's my due date so I want to make sure I know exactly what he should take so he can sign himself up either way. I'm just worried about getting him the exact right classes and times. There are a lot of options, but he hates school so I want it to be as fun and non-threatening as possible. Now I'm going to try going to bed. I hope his snoring doesn't keep me up!

2am here. Reflux and painful hands keep me up. I probably get 3-5 hours of terribly fragmented sleep. I wish I was at least effective when I'm awake...but I'm not.

It feels like I have a whole baby under my left ribs. I can't get whatever the pain is(I assume feet) to move. I can't sleep with this awful pain :-(

Ugh last night was the worst! I didn't get on my phone for fear I wouldn't ever sleep, but I was tossing and turning all night. My back pain seems to be back with a vengeance, I'm starting to get a cold so my nose is stuffy and annoying, and some of the night nurses that don't know me are driving me nuts with taking my temp (and sometimes my BP) motn. I didn't have a motn temp all last week, what's the deal ladies?! Let the pregnant woman sleep for the love of God! I dont need a temp taken at midnight and 4am when you're going to be in here at 6 waking me up for monitoring anyway be smart and do vitals then like the other nurses! If it was just midnight and 6 I'd be OK, but I'm angry this morning because I wasn't sleeping well to start and she woke me up right after I had finally fallen asleep. I almost yelled at her...

trixi282, Ask your evening nurse if she can tell the night shift not to wake you up if possible. Instead, make a deal that if you're up to pee or something in the middle of the night call them then and see if they can check you then.

I have no idea why I'm up when It happens. I got 4h of sleep on 5 consecutive days last week. I'm back to 6 now, which feels amazing, even though it's still too little.


I did discover Knight Rider is on Netflix though. Yesssss.

I just saw this, but that's exactly what I did this morning! I told my nurse this morning, who is awesome, and she's going to see if she can get the docs to note in my records to only do temp/vitals MOTN if awake.  And if I get up I can call them to do it, but otherwise that it's ok to wait until 6am monitoring.  Most don't even bother me MOTN, but some are just so "by the book" they want to be sure every 4 hours!

Had a nightmare about spiders and now I am so itchy, I can't get back to sleep. This is awful, I want to sleep so bad so I can enjoy my weekend! Also, if I miss homemade donuts in the morning I'll probably cry since missed them last weekend. :-(

Was up most of last night! Just uncomfortable, and DH snoring ran me out of the room per usual. At least I got to watch some reruns of Family Ties. When's nap time?

After being up the entire night, I finally fell to sleep when SO left for work around 7AM. I woke up startled awake by a knocking sound, wasn't too sure if it was at our door or what since it had just woke me from my sleep. I sat up a little dazed and looked at the clock, it was 8:15. Great, so I slept for an hour. Knock again, it IS my door (we just moved into a new apartment this week, still unfamiliar territory) so I quick get out of bed and scramble to get some clothes on to answer the door, as I sleep in just my unders. To my extremely unpleasant surprise, my landlord has taken it upon himself to already LET HIS OWN DAMN SELF IN after 2 knocks and no answer at 8:15AM!!!!!!!!! So there I am in my fucking underwear in my bedroom which is not 2 steps from the kitchen where he's standing, trying to put on pants and shouting "JUST A MINUTE PLEASE!!!!!!" as I scuttle toward my bedroom door to slam it shut. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! I knew there were a few repairs that he or an electrician might come by to take care of at some point this week, but I had ASSUMED like any normal person I would get a phone call asking my permission to enter my house??? If you knock on a door and no one answers, you walk away, you don't just let yourself IN, I don't care if you own this house or not, I LIVE HERE NOW!!! Needless to say I am still really pissed about this whole thing, and something will be said to the man, but at the time I was so 1. Startled 2.Exhausted 3. Confused 4. Uncomfortable that I just left my bedroom door shut and let him finish doing whatever work he had come to do. Ugh. How rude can you be?? What a morning.

SO went over to the landlord's house and had a conversation with him about it. I do not know exactly how that conversation went but I am very certain it won't be happening again. I pride myself on being an independent woman who can take care of my own damn self but fuck it, do I love when my SO stands up and takes care of me!!!

Yesterday I cleaned and cleaned until I literally couldn't move anymore. Just knew that would help me have a good nights sleep... NOPE! And it just drives me crazy that my husband can sleep so soundly!

I can NOT stay on my left side all night. My back and hips on that side just kill after too long. I switch back and forth through out the night.

Oh. BTW as if sleeping wasn't hard enough. Let's add almost full body sunburn to my list tonight. Sunscreen was clearly not strong enough. But I'm the palest, most sensitive skinned person I know so it shouldn't be that shocking. Sigh. Time to break out the vinegar.

DH wanted to know why I'm up and it's just that I'm so uncomfortably full of baby. Nothing is comfortable and, I swear to god child stop tickling my cervix.

Glass of milk and rebrushing my teeth is my go to fix, so FX that works tonight.

Bluedaisy, @badwolf321, I have an injury to my left hip and SI joint and sleep almost exclusively on my right side. I try to sneak some left side rest in here and there, mostly for the sake of my right shoulder which is pretty much shot from being exclusively slept on for a year. I've tried really hard to keep this off my list of things to worry about while trying to fall asleep! I think baby is doing okay with right side sleeping so far though!

ETA but now I am admittedly up googling the safety of right side sleeping.  INSOMNIA IS AN EVIL BITCH!

This happened to me too a few months back. Sadly my landlord can enter whenever she damn well pleases if the door isn't dead bolted. Guess how our door is 24/7 now?

Most states have laws that require specific notice of at least 24 hours unless it is an emergency. Even if it isn't in your lease.

I would be pissed. Definitely would look into one of those chains for the door. SO leaves at 330am and I should really make more of an effort to waddle my way to the door to use it after he leaves.

There's always something sexy about a man who takes care of his woman when he needs too. I feel the same about taking care of myself but man do I feel protected and loved when my man takes care of business.

I asked the OB about which side is better to sleep on left vs right and she said it didn't matter. And that if you put a pillow underneath one side of your back so you are at a bit of an angle you can sleep on your back--ish.

My doctor did tell me that the whole left side right thing is for you, not the baby.  She said the uterus can press on blood vessels and cause you to feel light headed and dizzy or to have your extremities fall asleep.

Dear SO,

Please stop having your alarm go off a million times. You have to be at work at 430...why does that constitute the alarm going off since before 2? Especially since I am the only one who responds to it every time then you don't get up until after 3? I dont have to work until later either 730 or 1130 everyday....so this isn't really fair as I dont get enough sleep as it is but now I'm wide awake. While you slept through your snooze button and complain that I keep waking you to shut it off.

Once again you are lucky I love you and are cute. Also that today is my 1130 start time. How have I dealt with this over the last 35 weeks?!

I'm here tonight too. I was pretty tired and layed down during DDs nap (which I usually do anyway), but today I actually fell asleep. As happy as I was, I knew it would come back to bite me tonight. So here I am at 1:22; hot, uncomfortable, and exhausted but wide awake.
